Rise & Grind — Restaurant in Clute

Stopped by one morning to see what all the hype was about. I am a very picky person when it comes to coffee & foods but I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means! I’m very transparent and honest. I couldn’t decide what I wanted so I gave a brief description of what I wanted to see what they could whip me up with. I believe the owner (male) made my coffee. The woman taking the payment was very sweet and conversed with me while I waited. So customer service was already at a 10 for me. The gentleman finished and handed me my coffee. He asked for me to taste it and if he needed to, he would add anything else to it if any. I took a sip and it was just how I liked it! Zero complaints. The coffee was very good. The service was very good as long as they weren't busy, then they seemed to get a little flustered. I had to go back and ask for my muffin because someone else had also ordered the same after me and they delivered hers to her table, but forgot about mine.

The atmosphere is really nice except for one thing -- they have a lot of plants...a LOT of plants and while my friends and I were sitting at the long table for our visit, we were pestered by a fly and several gnats. I went and asked for a fly swatter, that's how bad it was. My suggestion is to replace the real plants with some cute greenery from Hobby Lobby -- I think this would solve the gnat problem. I would have given 2 1/2 stars because of the gnat problem; if the gnats were gone, I'd give them 5 stars because it really is a cute little...

First time customer, down in this area on business. I am giving high marks because the service was OUTSTANDING! Always appreciate supporting locally owned businesses like this. However, I was disappointed at the amount of coffee versus froth I received in my drink, it was definitely unbalanced and I felt I did not receive a true value because after checking, I had less maybe 50% coffee and the rest was froth. The beverage quality and taste was SUPERB, but I felt shorted.
