Disappointed and Heartbroken Over Recent Changes
We’ve been loyal visitors to All Star Pizza for years, and it used to be a fun, safe place for our kids to burn off energy while enjoying some decent food. Unfortunately, under the new management, our most recent visit was deeply disappointing—and upsetting.
We understand that new rules have been implemented, and that’s completely reasonable. But what’s not reasonable is expecting children to follow rules that were never explained to them. Instead of calmly helping them learn, one staff member aggressively followed our kids around, correcting them harshly and making them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
At one point, this employee told both my daughter and another very young child that they were “bad kids,” which is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. She even physically moved the toddler—despite the parent being right there. My daughter was so upset, she asked to leave. My autistic son became so distressed that he ran to hide in a tunnel, and it took me several minutes to find him.
We spent over $50 for food and playtime, but instead of fun, our kids left feeling anxious and ashamed. If your goal is to escape the summer heat or rain with a place for your kids to play—this is no longer it.
The pizza is still good, and I do want to acknowledge that not all staff were the same. One young woman was absolutely lovely—kind, engaged, playing tag with the kids, and offering gentle reminders about rules in a way that was encouraging, not shaming. If more of the team followed her lead, this could still be a wonderful place.
Until there’s a serious re-evaluation of how children are treated and how rules are communicated and enforced, we won’t be returning—and I wouldn’t recommend it to other families looking for a safe, playful...
Read moreAfter this evening's All Star adventure, the Clute location USED to be my "go to" place for pizza and calzones, but my last 2 experiences really have me questioning if I will continue doing business with them. Tonight's phone-in order for a pizza and a calzone turned into 2 pizzas at pickup time. Rather than wait around, I just wanted myself out of the building, sooooo, no "Big Kahuna" calzone tonight! I didn't have a good feeling about it when phoning in the order to start with, seems the voice on the other end of the phone was either not interested in correctly taking my order or may not be the brightest bulb in the string. In the event I do order from this establishment again, I will most certainly request the life form I am speaking with to repeat back the order to me to ensure it is correct. My previous experience at the Clute location yielded red sauce for the calzone that just didn't taste right to either me or my wife. I don't know if the ownership has changed the recipe or is cutting corners on ingredient quality, I suspect the latter. Back to this evening's call-in, seems that the order taker wasn't one for dialog, many gaps in the verbal exchange and several "hellos" were needed to determine if I was even still connected on the call. Anyway, I would probably suggest that All Star's ownership consider having the pre-employment screening include an EEG (Electro Encephilogram) to make sure the prospective employee has a functioning brain. I gave this experience a 3 because there's not a 2-1/2 star. Good Luck if you...
Read moreExcellent place for group parties and team-building! First of all, I can't eat wheat, so I'm not reviewing the taste of the food (but it looked and smelled amazing). My husband and I booked the dodge-ball arena for a group party with about 15 to 20 people. Included were six large pizzas, made to order, a large fountain drink per person, and the use of the picnic tables and arena for two hours. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our area was clean and ready to go when we arrived. The kids and adults alike LOVED playing dodge-ball in the arena, and the pizza went fast! Part of our group ordered extra calzones just in case the pizza wasn't enough for everyone, but we ended up with extra. Overall, this was a stress-free way to set up a large party, and the two hour time frame was perfect. Everyone was tired and sweaty by then! The arena is in a large metal building that extends from the restaurant. There's a large window that looks into the restaurant from the arena, so it's easy to wave at your party members as they come in. The dodge-ball area does have AC; however, the large space and the fact that it's Southeast Texas means it was a bit warm. Once everyone on the field got all warmed up, Allstar staff turned on a large fan that was available near the picnic tables. If you're planning on booking this for the summer, I recommend bringing a cooler with extra water. For the price, the food, the fun, and the fact that it's indoors and weather-proof, I think this is an awesome way to host a party. We'll...
