Peking Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Coal Run Village

Full warning I am not a fanboy of the Hibachi experience, and that is what we came here for. This is not a review of the actual buffet Chinese restaurant. I don’t mind Hibachi, but would not seek it out. I find that it makes the food too hard to customize between diners and leaves the food over seasoned in general. If you like everything tasting like salt, sugar and fat you can’t go wrong.

The low score in service is not representative of anyone person, but what is clearly an over booked and understaffed restaurant. We arrived early in the evening and had good service up until the end of our meal. It became clear that our waitress was working as a hostess as well, and as we were leaving they were about fifty people waiting to be seated. I can only imagine how much service deteriorated after that. The restaurant charges an automatic 18 percent service charge, which isn’t that big of deal to me but at that price point more servers are needed.

I only give this resteraunt 1 star for cleanliness. This is the worst Asian cuisine resteraunt iv had in my life. My wife and I attempted a salad first, the lettuce was white and yellow. The cucumbers were soft in the middle like they had been frozen and thawed. The cottage cheese was very mushy grainy texture like light cottage cheese that's been refridgerated too long. Next I noticed sushi was just added to the sushi bar, the sushi rice had a crunch to it where the rice was not cooked. The hot bar was barely warm and the chicken was hard and had been over cooked. All the hot food was drowned in sauce and tasted absolutely horrid. Why anyone would rate this above a 1 is beyond me. After expressing my complaints not even a discount was given for the unsatisfactory dining experience provided. Total price for 2 with drinks was 36.00. Our experience here was horrible. We were in town visiting family and would NEVER recommend this place. Anyone that has food allergies, STAY AWAY or BEWARE: Too many onions in everything. They mix foods together, including things like shrimp and other shellfish. I watched several people mix foods and the employees did nothing about it. I watched people drop food into other food pans and the staff would simply scoop it out and put it back! One of these foods were shrimp! We only grabbed one plate, but didn't even eat half. And didn't even drink our pop. We tried reasoning with the manager of the place but he said we had to pay! We spent $30 for 2 people.. For two (half eaten plates) and two drinks untouched.
