Sergio's Tacos 76 S. Orlando Ave. Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

4.5 Stars (local chain review)

Sergio is an up and comer, if there is such a thing, in the local food scene. With two locations, one in Titusville and the one in Cocoa Beach I visited, Sergio is building a growing crowd of followers. He greets you upon entry and is a very congenial fellow. I put in an order for his Mexican Torta and one Carne Asada taco.

There is something about creative food that makes my inner Anthony Bourdain extremely happy. Sergio really brings it and leaves nothing in the tank. The Mexican Torta, for those not in the know, is basically the Mexican version of your typical Hoagie sandwich. The differences, of course, are cultural. Instead of a Baguette or other European bread, a torta is served on a Mexican French Roll and includes panela cheese (a Mexican cheese that is white and smooth with a soft, creamy texture. Also known as Queso Panela), lettuce, tomato, red onions, jalapenos and avocado along with a protein of your choice. In this case, I went with the Tinga (shredded chicken). As with anything involving a bread base, it begins and ends with the bread. This Mexican French Roll was fresh, tasty, and chewy in all the right places. The shredded chicken was tender, juicy, flavorful and sheer delight on the palate. Topped with fresh hand-sliced veggies, you can't go wrong with this menu option. ¡Bien hecho, Sergio!

I love it when I review a place and it's hard to put down an item to move on to the next. I feel like Pooh Bear in a Honey Store. As one can see from the pics, the Carne Asada taco looked spectacular. Hand-cut onion and cilantro with a fresh lime wedge tucked inside a freshly made corn tortilla. The only thing that could mess this up was the meat and that was not happening. Obviously made with the same care and love as the Tinga above, this was some of, if not the best, Carne Asada I've had the pleasure of masticating upon. The meat was so tender as to practically melt on the tongue and the flavors cascaded around my mouth like Mexican meatastic flavor crystals. ¡Excelente!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say everything, and I mean everything is made on-site and I would also guess by the man, Sergio, himself. Everything is far too fresh to be otherwise. If he had lime trees on the property, I wouldn't be surprised in the least. I half expected to hear chickens in a coop (I did not).

The Big Boy says, “Fresh Mexican fare in both locations. You can't miss at Sergio's....

I wasn't impressed. The taco's we're tiny. The salsa was super sweet. ( I hate sweet salsa) The service was terrible. I sat at the bar and the lady behind the counter kept putting "to go" orders in front of me. Like literally between me and my drink and all around me. I moved some of the boxes away from me, but she kept putting them in my way. Rude!! I eventually got up and went to a table. I told the bartender that I wanted my chips before my food. I sat there about 25 minutes before he brought me out chips and salsa...and he didn't forget. I reminded him once. I ordered the California burrito with fries. Get this, the fries ARE IN THE BURRITO! I didn't like that at all. That should have been specified. The food was mediocre at best. It's kinda like Moe's but wayyyy more expensive. It's not really a table service restaurant.. I will say the young girl making the food behind the counter needs to be commended. She was very friendly and was working her but off....and another thing that was funny to watch is how many people this restaurant turned away. While I was there 45 min, they turned about 20 people away because they said it would be close to 45 minutes wait on food..why doesn't that lazy bartender get back there and help...

Went in at dinner time, already had no beef, no steak. So kids meals only option was chicken. We asked how about cheese quesadilla in place of or the carne asada in place of the meat. Nope! They said they couldn’t do that. ???Ummm I think since you have told us no to having what we need in all four of the kids orders you should accommodate considering you also didn’t have it for any of the adult orders. Then they charged for two of one of the meals (a completely extra meal we didn’t need) thinking we ordered two but we wouldn’t have known because they didn’t give us a receipt and we’re unaware until they called us up for the extra meal they charged us for. No apologies, just “ well we thought…..” and “ we are out…..” Going in to a weekend and being in a tourist town I would hope you would be better stocked and more accommodating if you were not. After a couple more patrons they stopped taking orders. And YES I have worked in the food industry and in customer service in my lifetime, and this would not be acceptable anywhere that I...

We have gone to a number of taco places in Cocoa Beach and they're good but the flavor in these tacos was absolutely amazing. Best tacos we have had since moving back from Mexico 5 years ago. I had the chorizo which was spicy and flavorful and an al pastor which was a perfect blend of sweet and savory met Sergio great guy. This is the real deal we got. The guacamole came with warm chips and it was fantastic. The only reason I gave the atmosphere of three is because it's in a strip mall. It's bare Bones but to be honest that is a part of its unique character. I just don't want people to think based on reviews of other restaurants that have amazing interiors and beautiful views that they're going to get something like that here. It's very clean. It's wonderful. Still great food everytime we come 😁

10 Out Of 10, Highly Recommend. We live up in the treasure coast, and decided to take the drive up the coast for a solid day away from home. We ended our journey here after the beach, and we are so glad we did. We ordered the Queso Fries, 2 Burritos, and of course the Birria Tacos. The Carnitas Burrito, was delicious. Absolutely filled with flavor, and the verde sauce to compliment the flavor was absolute. We ate everything too fast to get the full photo effect, but those birria tacos were not a let down. Sergio was there and introduced himself, all I can say is, hats off to you sir. Staff was friendly, ordering at the kiosk screen was seamless. We even ordered dinner to go. Thank you Sergio, we will be back again.
