A Hidden Gem in Cocoa Beach – Can’t Wait to Go Back for the Full Experience!
We recently visited Lazy Turtle in Cocoa Beach, and while our timing wasn’t perfect, our experience was absolutely wonderful! Unfortunately, we had just had a late breakfast before arriving, so we weren’t particularly hungry when we got there. At the time, we didn’t realize that Lazy Turtle offers some truly amazing food—something we only came to appreciate once we saw the dishes being served to other tables!
From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and outstanding customer service. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. It’s always a great feeling when a place makes you feel right at home, and Lazy Turtle certainly does that.
The ambiance was fantastic—clean, well-maintained, and situated in an absolutely stunning location. Since the weather was nice, we opted to sit out on the patio, which was a perfect choice. The view, the fresh breeze, and the relaxed atmosphere made it the ideal spot to unwind.
Even though we weren’t planning on eating, we couldn’t resist ordering some drinks to enjoy the scenery. The drinks were well-made, refreshing, and just what we needed to complement the laid-back beach vibe. But then, as we looked around and saw the food being brought to other tables, we couldn’t help but feel like we were missing out.
We finally decided that we had to try something, so we went with the oysters—and WOW, what a great decision! They were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The quality was outstanding, and it made us regret having eaten beforehand. If the oysters were this good, we can only imagine how incredible the rest of the menu must be!
Watching the waitstaff bring out dishes to other tables only made us wish we had arrived with an empty stomach. The food looked absolutely mouthwatering, and you could tell that every plate was carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. The seafood dishes, in particular, caught our attention, and we knew right away that we’d have to come back to fully explore their menu.
All in all, we had a fantastic time at Lazy Turtle. Even though we didn’t get to try as much as we wanted, we still left with a great impression—thanks to the excellent service, the inviting atmosphere, and the small taste of their food that left us wanting more.
Next time, we’ll make sure to come hungry so we can dive into their menu properly! If you're in Cocoa Beach and looking for a great place to eat, drink, and relax, Lazy Turtle should definitely be on your list. We can’t wait to return and give it the full experience it deserves!

New #1 Best Breakfast
Glancing at my random name generator I experienced two thoughts almost simultaneously. Firstly, I have had so many bad meals in Cocoa Beach that every time a place there pops up I have to squash my rising anxiety and secondly, I have been there so many times the route is as familiar to my vehicle as the Auto Da Fe to an avid Aussie mountain climber. I know I have a better than 80% chance of eating bad food. Add to that dealing with the traffic, a new teen driver learning to drive and having to parallel park for the first time and I was in such a mental state of mind, I was just looking for a Swill Alert. Shame on me. After what seemed like a lifetime in the parking lot pulling off that initiatory parallel parking maneuver, we entered the Tiny Turtle where I was greeted warmly by Jone'e who sedately twirled her hand Ala Vanna White and said, “Sit anywhere it pleases you.” Her delicate, melodic voice and enchanting smile soothed the savage beast within and I decided to order. I put in a request for the Wake Up Burrito, a Beef & Cheese Empanada and Bacon Mac Daddy Cakes. Say what? Are you kidding me? Bacon, Mac & Cheese in a pancake? I'm in.
The Wake Up Burrito is a foodies paradise consisting of scrambled eggs, potato hash, fresh guacamole, freshly roasted tomatillo sauce, crème caribe and your choice of bacon, sausage, chorizo, ham, roasted island pork, island chicken, beef picadillo or veggie as your protein. I went with the chorizo and was not disappointed. One bite and my taste buds were not only awake but eagerly paying attention to the next bite.
The Beef & Cheese Empanada was also exquisitely prepared and paired with freshly made crème caribe and a roasted tomatillo dipping sauce. The insides were just as delicious as the outside which was cooked to perfection. The place had it going on. Moving on to the pièce de résistance, the Bacon Mac Daddy Cakes. One bite of two huge freshly grilled johnny cakes stuffed with homemade mac & Cheese and then topped with whipped cream, maple syrup and two slices of meat candy and I knew I had found the new #1 Breakfast Place. Everything was fantastic, filling, fresh and made by someone who obviously cares about what comes out of their kitchen. Congratulations to The Tiny Turtle and their entire staff for displacing the 4-year reigning champ of Best Breakfast in Brevard!

Read moreVery good good. Major problems with the service. I am leaving 3 stars because in the hour we waited for food we entertained ourselves by reading the emotional responses to the bad reviews so hopefully you will take some constructive criticism and make improvements. Instead of complaining about being busy maybe try staffing appropriately or telling guest before they sit down if the kitchen is backed up. What is the point of telling us the food will take 40 minutes after we ordered. You are trapping people that way. You would get better reviews if you told people at the door there was a wait instead of overwhelming your staff. There was one waitress for the front and dinging room. She was also bussing, that is too much for one person I can’t blame her for forgetting us three times. We didn’t get to order for 25 minutes after being given water. After that we waited 50 minutes for food that was very good. I am a sensitive eater and it was very nice in my stomach. I want to emphasize that we really enjoyed the food. The service was silly frankly. Maybe have less tables if you cannot handle the full capacity. A local couple sat next to us and said the same thing we did. Why not tell people about the wait before they order? They local couple also informed us it was always like this. This restaurant is one of the first search results and the one with the highest review. You should be aware of that and manage it more appropriately. More then one waiter. Tell people the food wait before they sit down, no one minds waiting 30 minutes but an hour? We were going to do other things tonight we now don’t get to do. It’s not fair to put all of that on your staff. I read old reviews responses saying the kitchen had just reopen but it’s been a year since those reviews it shouldn’t be an issue anymore. With an experience like this no one will come back. Everyone was looking around and at their watches. Again I do not blame the wait staff or even the kitchen this is a management problem. Don’t bother responding it doesn’t make you look good. I want you to succeed and I want your staff to be treated with more respect. To conclude the food was great.
