Dear Owners, I saw promotions on local Facebooks sites about the restaurant and based on these I thought I’d like to check out Salty Sisters. I live locally and I am a big supporter of local businesses. I understand that it is a challenging business vertical, so kudos for the effort.
I (and family members) visited the restaurant several times over the last few weeks before making an assessment, just so that I could be sure it wasn’t an off night.
This review may seem harsh, but I assure you, as a professional businessperson myself, this is honest and open feedback (and free) that I hope you seriously take on board.
Upon entry, the first impression was nice with the blue colors and spacious areas! However, on each occasion the place has an odd smell to it and it’s not pleasant. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it is unpleasant, e.g., stale, old, a funk?
There was no one who greeted us upon arrival nor even took notice, although there seemed to be plenty of staff hovering around. Not a good first impression and such a small effort. On my last visit, I saw both owners there! Imagine that.
The waitresses were quick to come to the table with menus and immediately ask for orders (no recommendations) but when saying ‘we needed a few minutes’, we fell into a black hole.
The music was heavy metal and aggressive and so loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation and not to mention to enjoy a meal. Looking around, I saw that the crowd was predominately over 40-60+. Is this what this demographic likes or is the music just for your funky staff’s enjoyment?
The food was barely mediocre… that’s nice but it’s really cr@p. There is nothing fresh but mostly frozen, pre-cooked garbage. Why is no one allowed to ask how they want their hamburger cooked? Fries were not hot, quesadillas had Velveeta cheese, $15 Caesar salad was a joke, warm salad and sour dressing, with chicken sprinkled with jerk seasoning=not jerk cooked. The margaritas were just a pre-made mix-yuk!
Most attractive, was the apparent cook, who brought out food, sloppily dressed, overgrown beard (not covered with net), dirty hands…. OMG.
It gets worse! On our last visit, I observed the following: Our waitress was very busy running around taking orders and serving food. However, there were, at minimum 5-6 employees, working behind the bar, including what I now recognize as one or more of the owners. Several of the employees were hanging out at the end of the bar talking to friends and completely oblivious to anything (green high hair?). None of them circled to service the bar customers.
Can you imagine, all this with the owners there! What does that say? So Disappointed!
Respond to owner comment: Please Appreciate that someone is giving you some useful and constructive feedback. I’m sure it’s insulting and hard to accept but it’s the truth most people won’t say! They just don’t come back! I really hope you can succeed.! However, competition is fierce and you’re not stepping up. Your staff is weak and taking advantage. If this is your living, I’d be pissed off. Simple: service, food quality,...
Read moreTo be fair, this was my and my families first time at this place, and we were attempting to go to another restaurant before coming to this place on a Saturday night during the summer. We didn't get to go to the other place because they closed before their stated closure time, so we were already really hungry.
Service at this restaurant as well as the front of the building was strange at this place as we came at 11pm with my son, who is 13 years old. The front of the location looks too much like a dive bar, so at first, we were not even sure if he was allowed to eat inside the place. My dad, his grandpa, went up to ask, and I guess they said yes, so we went inside. We sat down, and one of the staff said, "Just so you know, the grill has been turned off, so the only thing you can get is fried food." We were expecting the place to have seafood for the kind of name that the place has, but unfortunately, it has typical bar food. They have wings, fried chicken, nachos, and sandwiches with additional pulled pork and pulled chicken. So, another person comes to our table and I thought it was the same individual but it wasn't and I say so what is considered fried food as that is all you currently have? She looks at me with a confused look and says huh what do you mean we only have fried food?" I say yeah cause we were just told you only have fried food cause the grill has been turned off. She says no, you can order anything from our menu. I say ok and order the chicken Cesar wrap with chips and a sweet tea. The sweet tea was really good, but unfortunately, the grilled chicken was slimmy inside my wrap. I just ended up eating the wrap with just the lettuce and tortilla taking out all the chicken. The dressing was good, not great, tasted like Italian dressing, not Cesar. My parents liked their food, and my mom got the pulled chicken, which had a great taste, she said, but it was cold. My son got chicken nachos, which is huge by the way and ate the whole thing himself, so he really liked it. My dad got the special pork sandwich and loved it ate the whole thing.
I think if we are able to come again at an earlier time on a different day it would be better. I just don't understand why that's the case on a Saturday when it should be busy as it is a weekend during summertime. But, if I am able to, we will try again on a Thursday when they have karaoke, and I will order something else to eat or I will just get a sweet tea as I am unable to drink alcohol. I will try to come with an open mind about the place and go outside to see the back area that is shown in their pictures. But, the issue with this place I have is I don't think they know what demographic they are trying to...

After striking out on the island, I drove east to Cocoa Beach. As I headed South, my random restaurant generator in my pocket buzzed. It screamed, “Salty Sisters!” Okay. I am still a bit peckish as I left 90% of the last meal on the table. Salty Sisters is a new edition to the eateries in Tourist Trap Haven. Owned and operated by sisters Elise and Tiffany, it is family-owned and family-friendly. Looking at their Social Media I found a back to school night event they hosted complete with a jump house for the rugrats. You can't beat that.
Samantha is my bartender and service pro today. She is charming and gregarious and can juggle open prep work while dealing with difficult customers (me) without missing a beat. I asked Samantha for one Classic Smash Burger and One Pete's Pastrami. The pictures show the interior of the place, which is warm, friendly, and inviting. There is a very pleasant vibe about the joint.
Before too long, my order was up, snapping some more pics of the grub. I answered the questioning growl from my stomach and got to work. The first item I tried was the Smash Burger. While I am still not a fan of this method (when you smash it, you force all the juice out and are left with a dry slab of charred cow flesh), this one was adequate. Served with fresh iceberg, tomato, onion, pickle and American Cheese, it was reminiscent of burgers off the backyard grill. However, please stop this nonsense of smashing meat.
Now, before I go into Pete's Pastrami (write your own jokes here), I would ask you to take another peep at those pics. Where the burger was flat, the sandwich was fat! I don't think you could fit any more Pastrami between two slices of Rye. Topped with Thousand Island Dressing, spicy mustard, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, pickles, and onions, this was one exciting sandwich. Seriously, this thing, as they said in the 90s, is “The Bomb.”
The Big Boy says, “If I was a local, I would hang out here all the time. Great service and good food...
