Junk Food Bakery — Restaurant in Cocoa Beach

We found the angels at Junk Food Bakery when searching for someone to make our wedding cake late last year. It was last minute and we were frustrated that we couldn't find someone to make us a cake that not only looked beautiful but tasted amazing. We had a very specific flavor profile in mind. We don't live in Brevard county currently but it's our hometown and where our wedding would be. On a wedding planning weekend we stopped in, hoping for a miracle and they did not disappoint. The first thing I told them was that this was last minute (about a month out) and they said "not a problem". I told them that we had an non-traditional flavor in mind and they said "not a problem" but as it turned out, the flavors we wanted were something they normally do anyways! A coconut cake, pineapple cream cheese filling, and a coconut buttercream.....yes, it is as amazing as it sounds! They even had a cupcake in the display at the time that was similar flavors so we got to try it. We also got a few other treats and a coffee that day and everything was amazing! We even added a salted chocolate chip cookie favor to our wedding day order after trying everything. On the wedding day they delivered on time, and although I wasn't there when they dropped it off, I was told they were very professional and made sure the cake looked perfect before they left. Everyone at the wedding loved our cake, and enjoyed having something more interesting than the normal wedding flavors. Many of our guests and family now stop at the bakery as much as they can and we wished we lived closer so we could go more often. I was born and raised in Brevard and love seeing such a talented group of my peers killing it in the small business world! Can't recommend...

My complaint is that they have bad customer service attitudes & skills. I don’t care how good the food is, a paying customer at a home town small business expects an open ear to accommodate as best they can. I expect a basic skill of good attitude & knowledge by the staff working the orders. And some words in response other than an immediate “no” when trying to get assistance. I put an order in for 2 doz cupcakes, 2 1/2 days in advance,. I was told immediately, “no we can’t do that” . At my persistence I worked with them to get a modified order that I was happy with. I gave them complete creative ability. And paid over $100 for 2 doz cupcakes. Right!!! I was told I would get a call when the order was complete, that didn’t happen. I called to check on the status.

When I picked up on a street busy with tourists in Cocoa Beach, there was no parking within blocks. I asked for a meet up in front or back of the building. I was repeatedly told “no we can’t do that” until I persisted and was told that they were closing in a few minutes. I had to find a temp parking spot & then asked if they could meet me at the back door…”I don’t know.” “We can’t do that.” So I blocked traffic & walked to the front door where I was told to carry the box a certain way as I walked the block and a half back to my car in the dark. That was my helpful tip.. I won’t make any purchases...

Cocoa Beach was in need of a bakery and once Junk Food Bakery opened up, it was a game changer. They have so many amazing treats and coffee. The atmosphere is very welcoming, fun and the owner/stuff are super friendly. They had these cute old school diner seats with a pink neon sign that says "I ♡ Junk Food". Perfect for a photo op. They take custom cake orders and I had placed one for a personal milestone I achieved and they exceeded my expectations. The design was exactly what I wanted and it tasted just as good as it looked. I was having a conversation with the owner and was asking how business is doing. She proceeded to tell me that they are deciding to expand their kitchen to make a bigger work space to continue to satisfy their customers. I absolutely love supporting small businesses and have an understanding that changes are needed to continue to grow. That being said, unfortunately they had to take away their seating and restroom. Despite those changes, I would never rate this bakery off of that. You go to a bakery to enjoy the treats/drinks, not to be upset about no seating. They have a bench outside to sit on if anything. At the end of the day, every time I visit, I am never disappointed with what they offer and friendly hospitality. I will continue to support...
