Pizza Roma — Restaurant in College Park

I was in town from New York on business and was looking for some pizza in the area that wasn't Pizza Hut. I usually don't eat pizza outside of New York but recently had a good experience in Indianapolis so I decided to venture out once more. Yeah....didn't work out the second time.

I chose this spot based on all the reviews on here, which again, not a good call. I'll start with the good: the service was good, and the food was really cheap. I ordered a standard pepperoni pizza and some mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were fine, but clearly just frozen sticks fried up. The pizza was among the worst I've ever had in my entire life, frozen/Pizza hut-style places included. The place is also dirty. Doesn't have to be brand-new and renovated, I eat in older, run-down places all the time. This is not one of those endearing hole-in-the-wall places though, it is just dirty. They clearly do decent business as it was hopping in there while I waited for my pizza. It would pay to put a little of that money back into the business.

Despite its untidy appearance, this hole in the wall carry-out and restaurant makes a fine cheeseburger sub. The steak and cheese is also very good. Not being a great fan of pizza, I cannot say I'm a pizza connoisseur, but judging from other reviews it seems to be above average. The service is friendly and the food is delivered pretty quickly to your table. My only complaint aside from a lack of soft drink refrigeration is the absolutely squalid condition of a recycling station which unpleasantly confronts one upon entering. I believe the owner is kindly trying to help out a disabled person, but he really needs to insist on new, cleaner containers and neatly and clearly, machine printed signs. The hand-written scrawling looks terrible and detracts from the cosmopolitan...

Yes, their pizza is really really bad (just bland without any flavor and loaded with grease) but the thing is that the restaurant just seems...unclean. That's the first thing that hits you as soon as you enter the restaurant. I've been here a couple times during the pandemic and haven't seen anybody disinfect surfaces between orders/visits. That said, one of their owners/managers is RUDE to a fault! Seen him yelling at his subordinates and customers. The only thing going for them are their reasonable prices and subs and the fact that they're halal. Turns out that doesn't add to kuch which is why I don't bother going here anymore.
