I stopped in to Proteus Brews by chance as I happened to be driving by after a work program. I am so happy I did, absolutely wonderful people working behind the counter. It is in a bike store which makes the atmosphere feel open and warm yet not crowded. The bakery items all looked amazing, but the cheese Danish I consumed was so delightful I heavily debating getting another. They have local coffee beans for purchase and a healthy selection. Anyway, I got desperate and stopped by to find out how wrong I was. They make good coffee. I had a small pastry to go with it. The staff was friendly and started on my order right away. I remember sitting in that bike shop, chewing on my snack, and sipping my coffee, looking insignificant from the outside, but feeling quite happy and content inside.

My only gripe is that one of the baristas, after receiving payment and before providing any level of service, always makes sure to say "tip us if you'd like". Ordinarily that wouldn't bother me but when those are pretty much the only words you say to me after receiving my payment- No, "have a nice day", "thank you for your business", or "hope you enjoy", etc. - it really makes me wonder what I'm tipping you for.
