I was very interested in Swarma as many places offered Gyros. I sort of grew up with Swarma. The attendant (food service representative), was very nice, I asked her where she was from and she told me.
At first I was the only one in line and as I asked the owner for a sample of Gyro vs Swarma he seemed to be irritated. As other customers came in I just asked in a friendly way "If you don't mind me asking, where are you from... have you ever eaten here before? If not how did you find this shop" He became really agitated... everyone had already ordered and were eating. He said I cost him customers. No one walked out, no one threw their food out... no one was offended. Yet he was offended. He was from the middle east but refused to tell me where he was from... OK no problem... but he knew I was military and I believe he held that against me.
By the way my food was to go... it wasn't cooked completely when I opened it up at home (got the chicken n beef swarma sandwiches) and I had to throw it out. I thought about taking it back but it was quite a distance away, or contacting my credit card company to credit my account... still pending.
For someone in a small business... how can you be so rude.... have so much hatred for your customers??? I did nothing to him or his business. As a matter of fact I was going to invite my Chief's Group to lunch... $2,000.00 ...now gone! His loss! Please don't eat there. If your military, don't let him know you are military. Also watch him as he cooks your food. Be safe... not...
Read moreDisclaimer: I’ve only tried the chicken shawarma here and will be basing my review mainly on that. I’m also biased in the sense that I’ve had Mediterranean food all over the US and abroad.
When you walk in you’ll notice that the restaurant is connected to a grocery store. The restaurant seating area is relatively small but has tables for big and small groups. The restaurant has a hole in the wall vibe.
From what I could tell the food was made fresh as I had to wait about 10 minutes for my order without much of a line. Not surprising as the restaurant portion is ran by 2 people - a cashier and a cook.
The chicken shawarma plate was about $27. The portion size is small relative to the price. At most you could get 2 meals out of it, but I could eat the whole thing in one sitting. The order came with chicken, a small pail of rice, salad, pita, and two white sauces with an olive in each. Both with the pit still in. No hummus. The rice was cooked perfectly. The chicken was cooked and seasoned well and comes covered in a sweet sauce. I would suggest serving the sauce on the side as it can drip into the salad.
All in all the food is good, despite some unique choices. However the value proposition is low. At this price point it needs to come with hummus, and extras like falafel. When it comes to Mediterranean food in general I would say this place is average. Despite all that it’s probably the best Mediterranean food in...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were desperate for some shawarma on a Saturday night and hadn’t found a great place in the Springs yet. I ordered from this restaurant on Uber Eats, not realizing they were just a few minutes from closing. Not only were they not upset at my rudeness ordering so late, a kind gentleman called to clarify he had my order exactly right, and let me know he had piled it high with extra rice and salad per my request. He was so lovely and I just knew the food was going to be good.
What I did not expect were the three HUGE bags of food that showed up at my door. The two plates of beef shawarma I had ordered with lots of some of the best hummus I’ve ever had, multiple containers of extra rice and salad, a tub of garlic sauce, delicious tangy tzatziki,, and a complimentary order of French fries (the nice thick cut ones). I also got a couple of lamb kabobs and a falafel to try, because good falafel can be hard to come by.
WOW. The food was soooo good!!! Beef perfectly seasoned, fluffy rice, lamb with just the right amount of char. AMAZING FALAFEL. I almost wanted to eat the toum with a spoon, but settled on dipping the fries in it for the sake of being civilized. I will be ordering from this place again for sure, not just for the amazing food, but to support a business run by kind and generous people....
