I was holding off on writing this review, hoping that this location could get it together and make a comeback, but after a recent experience I realised that's not going to happen until they get rid of a certain day manager and retrain their staff. It was my go to Popeye's for a while, less than 10 min wait, great friendly staff focused on their job and the customer, and food that had a little more care put into it, It was highly reliable for my clients and as a customer myself, then things started to change about 3 months ago. Went to pickup a small meal for a client. I noticed almost the entire staff had changed. This time despite being rush and understaffed the manager was in the back, not helping. The employee up front was trying to take control but no one was listening to her, they were all in their own world when she needed help or sides brought up, so she was running around and doing everything. The drive thru orders were moving at a much faster rate, this is something that I've noticed several times that the drive-thru is given priority over items even over orders that came in first. Finally the manager came out and honestly she looks like she either has a substance abuse problem or hasn't slept in two weeks, she always looks like this when I come in. She unlocks the pick-up orders and a bunch spill out, she lines them up and tells the employee that she won't be able to help her because she is still counting a register. The look of dread on that employee's face was like death spread on burnt toast last tuesday. I informed the client of the wait and they cancelled, I got paid 1/2 and moved on. I had several similar experiences there since then, but my most recent was the worse. Everyone seems to get this is a bad location, other drivers and customers openly talk to me at this location about how bad it is, and now I'm getting paid extra to take jobs from it because of it's rep. I had gone to pickup a small 2 meal order. No orders up front and a few people in drive thru, so I figured this should be fairly quick. My order was filled immediately except for the shrimp. It shouldn't take that long to fry popcorn shrimp, but everytime some comes out the drive-thru gets priority despite my pickup being promised 5 minutes ago. The manager comes out talking about how she's going to go home to cut labor, and then apologizes to me for the wait and says that my shrimp are almost done and coming out next. So when the shrimp comes out and the drive-thru guy takes it all, I start yelling "That's my shrimp", to which i'm told with a smirk "No, it's not", i'm told by an employee that doesn't matter my customer ordered 45 min ago and that i should just cancel it. I asked why my shrimp wasn't dropped in the fryer when I got here 25 min ago. Then the manager comes out and tells me to stop yelling because they are just kids. What kind of poor excuse is this. This is a restaurant not a daycare, and other locations hire "kids" and they are not this broken. This is not a manager, and these "kids" deserve better. I don't like having to yell, but there is no communication and this manager promised something without actually making sure it would happen, she was too busy running to the back again. Popeye's with 1/2 the staff of this place can turn out twice the orders and still have deliveries ready on time, there is no excuse for the wait or poor service. They are wasting peoples time and money. When you have to wait that long for an order you notice things, it's filthy and from what I can see in the kitchen it's even filthier. they touch money, face, wipe nose, touch hair, cleaning chemicals, and then touch food without any washing. They lack the basics when it come to food prep safety and should be fully investigated and the management re-evaluated immediately. I was payed $25 in tip to deliver $18 in food and he told me he knows exactly how bad it is, really says something about the experience people are...
Read moreI am an Uber Eats Delivery Driver and this is one of my favorite places to pickup from. I've also eaten here. The food is fantastic. I've seen first hand how they prepare and put it together and I will say, some of the hardest working people ever. This place is very busy, especially during lunch and dinner, and even more especially when people are getting off of work, so yes. You will have to wait a little while for your order. But the workers at this place are far from lazy and far from rude.
I deeply enjoy talking to the workers when I get a chance. They are super friendly. I don't envy their job at all though because like I said, they are super busy. But they are busy with a good attitude, if I had the ability to give them raises, I would.
If you have an observant eye like I do, you'll notice that every single employee has a job to get you your food as quick as possible. And each employee does it well. You have the person frying chicken, restocking the Mac n cheese and rice and beans. You have the person putting your order together and you have another person taking the drive-thru and even preparing sandwich specific orders. They have a system and it works and I deeply appreciate them.
I came in here during Super Bowl Sunday (I was working Uber) and despite being overwhelmed with orders, they were still fantastic at their jobs, and being a restaurant employee on Super Bowl Sunday is exhausting for anyone.
When I eventually got around to ordering food for myself, the chicken was fantastically seasoned, the honey BBQ sauce was incredible (especially on the fried chicken) and it was a meal that lasted me a couple days.
One time I picked up an Uber Order on a day when they had not gotten their shipment of buns and my customer had ordered two chicken sandwiches. Instead of sending me off with nothing but sides, the employee I was talking to came up with a solution of packing my customers order with chicken tenders equivalent to what he had paid for his order, instead. This pleased both my customer and I. They could've easily had done nothing, but they put effort into doing something.
I overall really appreciate this place. I get so excited to pick-up orders from this place just to have brief conversations with the employees. I wish I could eat here more often (I'm...
Read moreThe night before Thanksgiving was hectic to say the least. A room full of unhappy people waiting for 2 adults and 7 children to make their food in the back. They ran out of chicken every 10 minutes. I had placed a huge order, as my family wasn't feeling well and I might not have been able to cook for turkey day. I waited patiently as over 12 customers berated, and verbally abused the employees, pulling their orders to the front, to get their ways and be appeased. Mine constantly moving to the back because of my patience. I waited 45m. I want in a huge hurry, and was grateful for the dinner help, even though I had to pay for it and wait. Patience is a virtue so many others just do not possess. I fed my family and was able to hang out with them instead of trying to clean and recover from cooking while still very sick. I have an aneurysm, and try hard to keep my stress down, and I was kind.. something others just can't be for some reason. I reminded the manager I was still there. She felt so horrible she had my food ready next and was guarding the bags she had ready for me whilst waiting for my sides to be ready. Josh was also kind, helpful and very calm whilst other customers were being beyond rude to him. The food was hot, fresh and packed kindly. Although my sides (I believe to numerous new trainees) were only half full. I will continue to come here, because these workers still were kind to me in the face of the hatred from the other customers... and I appreciate...
