I have been on the hunt for a new Chinese takeout since I reopened my office in upper east side (Fruitvale?). Anywho, I found it. Ordered my standard "test" dishes of Beef and Broccoli and Mongolian Beef with cheese wontons. This is how I test the food at a new place. I think a lot of you get me.
One of their dishes with Broccoli- to see how they treat their veggies, see what they consider an edible veggie and a possible spicy helping of something yum yum...hopefully to see what their range of hot is like. My order was ready when I got there which was the drive around the block basically. They had an impression protective wall of plastic to appease the Covid Gods and the checking out post online order was painless and quick. Everything was wonderful. I rushed back to my office to see what I won. To synapse this adventure- it was the best Chinese food Ive had in a long time. Huge portions, cooked perfectly...all the veggies were a slightly al dente. 50/50 on good quality meat and veggies. Plenty of taste sauce on both. There was actually artificial card meat in my cheese wonton....impressive. As far as heat...I think the Mongolian Beef was mild, if that. It was very good just no heat. I will get the General or other spicy next time. With a $5 this ran me about $34. They do have lunch specials from 11am to 2pm ...I think. I will be trying that out...
Read moreMy favorite Thai restaurant close to my home went under New management, and apparently the spices are managed differently as well. I was fair disappointed. I look up This place, and they say they have pad Thai.
I have never before eaten chicken pad Thai that had cabbage, carrots, and huge slivers of onions in it. I could not eat it and had to throw it away. I'm now out 25 bucks. I won't be ordering from this place again. I consider this to be false advertising. I've eaten pad Thai prepared a specific way, over several years, spanning several different areas. And never was it prepared like this. All those added vegetables change the flavor. The noodles were drenched in some sort of sauce that I could not identify. Just some random brown sauce. Something tells me that the five-star ratings are coming from people who don't even use salt, pepper and garlic powder in their own houses.
I'm sure your other stuff is really good, but when you say that you're selling pad Thai, actually prepare it the way it's supposed to be. I could have made that better at home. I'm tired, so I wanted to treat myself to something. And now I have this horrible taste in my mouth that I'm not going to be able to...
Read more27DEC2021 around 5pm the woman at the front counter is brash, borderline rude, and doesn't listen to customers. I was so calm and clear and patient with her and she kept sticking her finger up at me after she asked me a question and i was trying to answer her. On top of that my food was incorrect, the person who was assembling the food was touching cooked food without gloves and then touching packaging then cooked food again. All around a mess of an experience. Then she gave me a really strange look when I asked for two sets of chopsticks for my meal and then side really hard when I also asked for some napkins for my meal. Just because I ordered one meal doesn’t mean two people are not eating it and I didn’t think asking for six or seven napkins was strange but her answer was she said I cannot count. Probably will not come back …
Update, the food...
