Update: Decided to give this place another try to give a better review. I decided to get the #1 and had a much better burger, though the fries were not as good as the day before and were lukewarm to cold. The burger was much better and the price is way better for the meal. I'd just avoid the cheese here and the overpriced gimmick burgers. Some days the meat tastes like it has been cooked the day before and reheated.
I've been to the other place on Voyager which was not good at all, but thought I'd try the new location in Monument and give it another chance. The atmosphere is really nice, really like the look on the outside with the beach theme and lounge chairs. I love the waiting area bar. Restaurant was nice and clean and bathrooms clean. I have to agree with another reviewer that the soap and gel in the bathroom need to be switched. The employees are really nice and seem to be working really hard. I just feel bad for the waitress having to bring orders to folks. Being a waitress going back and forth without tips just seems messed up and hope she is being paid well. The woman who brought me my order was wonderful. Wait time inside during lunch was as expected, 18 minutes. Too long in my opinion for the quality of food.
As for the food. I feel like I’ve been robbed! I ordered a Patty melt and a Smokehouse “junior” to try (just the burger) and it was $9!!! Are you kidding me?! For a JUNIOR hamburger? For that price I could have went to Shake Shack and got a much better burger, or two at In and Out! As soon as I saw my order rung up I was just mad the entire 18 minute wait to get my food. I'll never be back because of this. And the junior burger is absolute disgusting. About the same size of a junior burger elsewhere, but less meat. Cheese looked disgusting and old. I took a few bites and tossed the rest in the trash. The bun was hard as a rock and the ingredients all mushed inside. Not the fault of the employees here, but Whataburger should be ashamed of themselves. Absolute mockery of your customers to even charge that ridiculous price for a junior hamburger. Even the Patty melt had way more meat and was only $13 for the meal.
The Dr. Pepper also was completely flat with no fizz or bubbles. I didn’t realize this until pulling away and had to dump it as well. The cheese they use is just nasty by the way, yuck! Get a better quality cheese if you are going to charge fancy sit-down prices. I paid around $24 and had to throw half of what I bought away.
On the positive the fries were actually really good. This location is better than the Colorado Springs one and the employees are...
Read moreWe have eaten at this location twice. We live 2 hours away but have had soccer games in the Springs and have tried to stop by when in the area. Our first time was right when it opened and our experience was great! We went last weekend and I have to say we were highly disappointed. I am originally from Texas, so I know what Whataburger should be like from the food to the customer service and this time was just awful. We ordered 3 shakes, 1 Vanilla and 2 Chocolate. There was no difference in color between the Vanilla and the Chocolate. The girl making the shakes commented when she heard we ordered them, that she hates making shakes. We took the 2 "Chocolate" ones back and they made us new ones. The syrup was not even mixed in, but it was obviously chocolate sauce. We mixed it with a straw and again barely any color difference when compared to the Vanilla one. We left it alone. My husband was eating his burger and I told him to stop. There was a nasty hair on the burger that looked like a hair from a beard, which most of the men working there had. He was so grossed out, he went up to complain and they said they would make him a new one. He was trying to explain what burger it was and they brushed him off and didn't listen. They made a completely different burger from what he ordered. He went up to mention that it was a double and he had more toppings (it only had a tomato on it) and they came back with an extra patty. He had to go up again and explain exactly the burger he ordered and they looked at him like he was being so unreasonable. He wasn't even hungry anymore and honestly would have preferred a refund. The manager and employees were avoiding him, like they couldn't deal with confrontation. My husband wasn't rude or anything he just wanted them to be understanding of how nasty it is to have a hair in your food. They never even apologized! Honestly, the food was meh, the burgers were dry and it just wasn't the quality I am used to when eating at a Whataburger. I don't know if we will ever go back and if we do it might only be to the ones in Texas. At least there they have Southern hospitality at the very least! I will say the location and view is great, but that's about it.
Can you tell which shake is Vanilla and which one...

The whole experience was bad, overall. Stings more because, for "fast" food, it's expensive.
I tried to use the self-service kiosk and the credit card system was not working (I went through the process several times, twice with someone I assumed was the manager). Of course, there's no one there to help in the first place because it's self-service. The manager had someone come out and take my order and payment manually (he should have taken care of it right then).
As it turns out, I should have done the whole thing myself, right down to cooking the meal. I ordered it to dine in, grabbed a drink and waited for my meal. After about 20 min, the young woman who had manually taken my order came out and asked if I still had my receipt (I did), because they had somehow "lost" my order. She apologized profusely, but I would have expected a quick acknowledgement from the manager.
I presented the receipt, she said it would only take a minute to get it ready, I said forget it (as in, just chalking up a $15 loss to be done with it), and she reassured me. It ended up being a 5-minute minute, and she brought my food to me - to go - even though it said clearly on the receipt "Dine-In."
I thanked her, and proceeded to "dine-in" my truck in the parking lot. To note... I was the only one in the restaurant, yet all the closest parking spaces were filled with what I assume were employee vehicles. Most of us could all use a few extra steps on the daily, but not all of us. Decorum and service might dictate that those spots be left open for customers. I could be wrong, but I think it's indicative of the way this particular Whataburger is managed/run.
The food was decent, although I was kinda shorted on fries (the large I ordered was pretty anemic from a volume standpoint), and, in all honesty, not worth the hassle, the wait, and most importantly, the cost. To top it off, the order wasn't 100% complete, but, by the time I figured that out, I was past expecting it to get better.
Won't go back. For the money you can get twice the food with none of the hassle and...
