I've been to just about every retro video game store in the state, and so far, Game City Monument is the absolute best. I'm a hardcore collector with over 1000 games (most of them from here), so I know what I'm looking for out of a store, and I'll walk out of a place in 30 seconds flat if I see any red flags. Thankfully there are none to be found here. The prices are always fair. Unlike other stores that will nickel and dime you at every turn, or charge upwards of 200% market value, Game City always makes sure they're offering a good deal. The owners are extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and can help you with whatever you need, whether you're looking for something specific or need a recommendation (which Candice is especially excellent at). They have an outstanding selection. Every time I go I find new things I never would have elsewhere. In particular, they have by far the best stock of imports in the state. They also let you test any game or equipment that you like before buying, and have a nice 30-day return policy. You probably won't need to return anything though because they test everything so well that even after hundreds of purchases, I've never once had to take something back. They can also repair any consoles that are giving you trouble, and can fix any discs that are too scratched up to work for $5 a pop. There's also a large selection of DVDs, most of which are $2 each if that interests you. I've been going to this store for over 10 years, and I'm definitely not going to stop any time soon. Game City is awesome! If you go based on my review, tell them...
Read moreThis is my favorite retro game store in Colorado. They have almost everything. Genuinely. And it's clear that there's so much love and attention going into it.
Games and consoles are being preserved and restored with the balance and care of people who know what's important to the people who really love games and the knowledge base is off-the-charts. You get 85% of the retro con experience in one compact store.
It's a gem. A hidden gem. And it's so good that I struggle telling you how good it is because I like having my pick of the playfield. A little more expensive than ebay collecting, sure, but if it's on the shelf in this store, it's exactly what they say it is. You can't get that guarantee online. To physically hold while you're choosing which new toy you're going to scamper off with is the exhilarating side of collecting.
Don't go here because you want a "great deal" or like you're sneaking off with some diamond in the rough. Go here because you enjoy this....
Read moreThey may not have everything, but they definitely have at least something you might want. This store is phenomenal! Got a Wii U for a great price and they were super helpful with various other things. They don't do console repair, but they will at least try to help you figure out what's wrong. My PlayStation 2 had an issue with a certain game, and they showed me what was wrong and cleaned the game disc for me as well. Very knowledgeable and nice people, as well as very pleasant to talk with.
Overall, I absolutely recommend this place to any video game enthusiast! Despite the small size of the store, they have a very, very nice selection and even if you're there to browse and don't end up purchasing anything, it's just a nice place...
