Easily one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in my life - I would urge EVERYONE to avoid trying this place until they have a few months to work their kinks out.
We joined the waitlist online and showed up when the website told us to, from that point we waited another 25 minutes to be seated. Upon being seated no waiter nor waitress greeted us until we went to the front and requested a waiter(ess) to take our order.
When a waitress finally did arrive she was flustered and apologized that our waitress "decided not to show up." I can only imagine that means to not help us, as there were people sitting at our table before us.
When we finally got our order in a member of my party ordered a Apple Cider Sangria, which we were informed us it would need to be virgin, as they did not have any alcohol (despite the menu stating they did). When the sangria came out (15 minutes after ordering) it did not have any fruit in it like all their advertisements suggested - although from what I was told it at least did taste good.
30 minutes after ordering (45 after being seated and over an hour after being told by the website to check in) we finally got our appetizer - which I must say was quite good. The waitress apologized to us for the wait and told us the the appetizer was being comped as a result.
Almost 50 minutes later, or 80 minutes after ordering, 95 after being seated) our food FINALLY arrived. And it was all cold and sad - the food had clearly been sitting for a very, very long time. The Belgian Waffle had the consistency of a sponge from sitting and getting soggy, the french toast was room temperature at best, the rest of the food never touched the table due the poor quality of the other food. We told them not to worry about it, we were no longer interested in our food.
When we expressed our dismay about the quality of the food and I alerted them we had already been sitting for over 90 minutes, the one waiter who was helping give us our food informed us there was nothing they could do about it, it was all the kitchens fault. We had a manager (I presume) come over and she explained to us, to be blunt, that it is what is to be expected of this establishment and that she would hate to waste any more of our time, but their kitchen is slow and they were very backed up. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were just busy that does not explain that the food that was brought to us had clearly been sitting for an extraordinarily long time.
The service we received was decent as best (nothing against the waitress, as she was not even supposed to be our waitress, our other waitress seemingly just decided not to want to help us that day).
I understand that the restaurant just opened, but it is clear to me that this establishment was not prepared to actually open just yet. The way the staff handled the situation left a lot to be desired, and the fact that from showing up to having food on our table took roughly two hours, just for the result to be cold, sad food is nothing short of a massive disappointment. We elected to leave Another broken Egg Cafe, go to a restaurant 10 minutes away, order, eat, pay, and get back home in less than an hour.
I will consider giving this cafe another chance in a few weeks or months when it gets its foothold, but based on the quality of the experience and the food I experienced today, I genuinely wonder if it has any hope of...
Read moreWhat a terrible experience. After waiting over an hour for our food, which initially I did not mind as I know this location is fairly new, my order of the cinnamon roll french toast was ruined as I found WORMS in the blackberries that covered the meal. I immediately stopped eating & removed the fruit off my plate on to a napkin to show our waitress. When she came over she began to inspect the fruit at the table, proceed to bunch the napkin up and said she would send the manager over. The first manager (woman) came to our table and stated, “We inspected the fruit again in the back and did not find anything. If you’d like to talk to someone above me I can get the other manager.” I stated, “Why would I lie about finding worms in my food after waiting an entire hour to eat? Please send someone above you who we can speak to.” Shortly after an older man, who did not introduce himself, came to our table and demonstrated zero customer service or professionalism. This “manager” proceeded to say, in a very condescending and accusatory tone, “I do not agree with what you saw. I think you saw something that you did not see.” Which I responded, “Why would I lie about finding WORMS in my meal?”. He continued to discredit my claim and continued to say “I did not say you lied, I said I do not agree with what you are saying you saw. I do not believe you saw what you THINK you saw.” He then proceeded to walk away and did not continue the conversation. The waitress asked if there was anything else I wanted, which I absolutely refused. In disbelief, I simply told the waitress to give us our check as we would never be returning to this establishment again. Our waitress apologized for the “higher-up” manager’s demeanor & provided me with a QR code (which did not work) to leave a review. Shortly after, the first manager (woman) came back apologized for the experience & eventually stated the “We should not of had to go through that and meal was on us”. The level of disrespect received by the older male manager was unfounded. I have never in my life gone to a restaurant, found insects CRAWLING in my food, and then been told I was lying by management. The only reason I did not take a picture was for the sole reason of being discreet as I do not like to make a scene, however, due to the disrespect and complete mismanagement of the situation I truly wish I did take a picture & video of this insect crawling in and out of my fruit. I am so disappointed in this dining experience & the mismanagement of the situation. I hope there is a reassessment as far as management goes, because to be a customer and not only have a terrible dining experience, but then to be belittled in such a...
Read moreAn update for my review: The company replied with what would look like an intent to communicate and solve the issue, however after sending them an email and my name as they requested in their reply I haven’t heard anything. They make it look like they want to communicate and address the issues but they don’t.
Here is my very honest review:
It was an okay experience. Atmosphere was nice, very pretty, good location. Everything else is nothing to write home about. For the money we paid absolutely not worth it. Very expensive for the quality of food they serve. Their marketing is very very good but it’s not accurate. My review is based on 2 times we were there. Last time I got a lobster omelette and it was honestly good but the English muffin was completely burnt. Like… I understand that it was a Saturday and it was busy. But how can you serve burnt bread to customers? Such small simple thing but ruined it for me. The beignets were over fried, very hard to even chew. This time I was super excited to have my coffee in a signature “Broken Egg” mug since I didn’t the first time, instead I got a bland black one, upon asking got an answer that they are sold out. Which would mean they were selling the mugs for 22$ after they were used?
The food was super mediocre. My husband got huevos rancheros and he didn’t like it, he even asked for an extra chorizo and still was very bland, barely any beans in it. I got an omelette with veggies and it was meh, the amount of garlic in it… I can’t even explain… please look at the picture attached. 14 cloves of raw garlic in my omelette.. 14! They were absolutely inedible. I asked about this and waitress’s answer was “I don’t know why they put so much there”…. Coffee and orange juice was good. Waitress was nice but she had awful, long nails with layers of stuff, powder, glitter and “diamonds” on them which are extremely inappropriate for service industry. Section 2-302.11 of the FDA Food Code guidelines states that “fingernail polish is not allowed when working with exposed food” … not even mentioning “diamonds” and other things that could be in our food. Disgusting…
They are advertising their brunch cocktails which we were also excited about because they look very yummy and first time we were there they didn’t have it but it’s been 2 months now and they still don’t have them on the menu. It’s okay if breakfast place doesn’t serve alcohol but… don’t advertise it. All things considered the first time I was willing to give it a benefit of the doubt because they just opened, but at this point won’t be...
