Donut D-Light is a fan's experience period! I see some other reviews on here taking points off for atmosphere, language barriers and someone clearly having a bad day. IF these things are true, they are outliers. This spot is EVERYTHING you could want in a donut shop. You can smell the freshly made donuts from outside. You see flour on the aprons of workers who made them overnight. Everyone is as friendly as can be expected and almost always there is a thank you with a huge friendly grin. The shop is quiet and bare bones.....just as a hometown donut shop should be! There should be little to no ambiance in a shop who's workers have already worked 5 hours by the time you arrive.
Now....the product..... The donuts are, hands down, the absolute best in the area. The fluff or creme filled long Johns are absolutely fantastic! The donut holes are soft and perfectly glazed. The apple fritter is HUGE and filled with cinnamon apple chunks. My girls love Boba and are always excited to see what interesting colors the donuts will be painted with on each visit. If you want something a bit more savory, they have ham and cheese croissants or kolaches (other flavors available). I have yet to try a product that I didn't like. I need to go back as soon as they open, to be honest. They have several fillings for the donuts and I want to try all of them. The prices are so reasonable, I may try all...
Read moreThis place USED to be my favorite place in Columbia to get donuts. I would seriously sing their praises to everyone, BUTTTTT I don't know if it was an off day or what? (Visited 4/34/2023 at 7:45 a.m.) Maybe this particular employee just wasn't "feeling it" this morning? It was the worst experience I've had there. First off, she wouldn't fill any donuts. She moved so slowly, almost as if she was mad that I was there to purchase donuts. There was no friendly greeting (I greeted her), no smile. There was no 'thank you', so customer service was basically NON-existent. Even though the donuts were decent, I won't return. A dozen donuts with tax was $19.76. I also think that's overpriced for what they're offering. You can get a dozen of Hurts Donuts in Springfield for $21, and these are NO Hurts donuts.) Sadly, they are no longer my favorite. I will head to Yummy's...
Read moreThis place is awesome! I wanted to try more of the item that they had as everything looks really tasty. What I thought was really cool is that they fill your pastries on demand. So when I wanted a Bavarian cream filled maple long john, I didn't have to worry that there were only chocolate angel cream (hate that stuff lol) filled long johns available. It's a really cool set up actually. I don't know why more people don't do it that way... I guess it is an extra step at the register, but one that really makes a difference when it comes to customer satisfaction. They also have a wide selection of drinks that are hard to get everywhere else like milk and boba teas which I wanted to try more of... The guy at the register was friendly as well! I will...
