Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Columbia

My family and I have been going to Rio Grande for years but will no longer after today. We called for a take out order and wanted a fajita taco salad and beef and queso. When ordering we asked for the fajita taco salad in the large taco shell as that is usually how we get it at the restaurant. The person taking our order said okay and the rest of the ordering process proceeded normally. When we arrived home with the food we discovered that not only was the fajita taco salad not in the shell we asked but was also very lackluster and did not look very appetizing. It did not have the normal amount of food that we have been used to when ordering take out from them. We called the restaurant to see if we could come back and get the taco shell, they said no so we asked if we could return the food and get a refund. They said no to the refund which we completely understood, but asked if they would be able to work with us in some way to make the order right. They said for take out orders they usually don’t do the large taco shell but that was not told to us when we initially ordered when we asked for it. We would have completely understood if they told us when we asked to order that they did not do that for take out orders but they did not so we expected the large taco shell we asked for. When trying to have a discussion about the order one of the mangers hung up on me and was being completely unprofessional. We are really sad this is how they handled our order as we used to love this place. Now we will never go back as we do not want to spend money at a place where they treat customers so poorly. I would not recommend this place to anyone and would think twice before going here if you want good...

Really horrible experience I’m literally in shocked the way they handled the situation!! Me and my family came to eat and I ordered my 1 year son a kids plate that comes with a cheese quesadilla with beans and rice we noticed that there was a white piece of hair in the rice we informed our waiter and some other guy came and took the plate he didn’t even bother to tell us that they will bring another plate for him since he didn’t even finish his food on top of that our waiter came in and brought our receipt, like to me that was a way of telling us it was time to leave… then I noticed our waiter sat down and started to eat and drink his ALCOHOL!!! We decided to leave because nobody would come and say something!! But me and my husband told I’m guessing a “manager” to have a talk to their employees because we weren’t happy the way they handled this!!! Rio Grande Restaurant: DATE: JULY 2ND 2023 TIME: 2:30PM- 3:15pm Service: I was seated as soon as I came in. Waitor took my drink order and politely gave me time to look over the menu Main entry came out really fast and hot.

Food: Chips: A good crunch, could use some flavor Salsa: a bit salty and really over watered. Guacamole: Fresh, good flavor and texture. Sweet Tea: A bit stale but overall decent Rio Grande Steak: great flavor cooked perfectly sides are perfected. Some bits of steak was over seasoned but not over powering Fried Ice Cream: was out of stock unfortunately Sophia's: nothing wrong but not for me.

Cleanliness: Silverware has a bit of soap scum but clean Plates and cupe are spotless Floors could be swept and mopped. Booths and tables are in okay condition.

Atmosphere: Could really use a makeover and maintenance
