New Mandarin House — Restaurant in Columbia

The "old" Mandarin House was amazing, the "New" one is awful. We walked in and we're smacked in the face by the overwhelming smell of old grease kept at too high temp. It was inescapable. This is place we used to eat at nearly every weekend until the old folks retired & the kids took over. The quality went way down, the prices way up, and service is non-existent. There was only one person there eating, yet our table was filthy. I didn't want to stay but Hubs had his heart set on his favorite dish. We ordered 4 crab Rangoon and hot tea. The little tea pot and cups are gone, as is decent hot tea. The CR weren't awful but they were greasy tasting. Hubs dish was so bad he didn't finish it, a first. Tiny little place. Upon entering we found the place to be empty, devoid of customers or staff. Then a woman came out from the back, and she said something we could not understand. Finally understood that she was asking if we were dine in or carry out.

Ordered our meals and waited not too awful long. After we arrived, they got real busy with call in orders and a couple other customers.

The meals arrived and they presented well, but the rice had a different flavor than any I've ever had, and not in a real good way either. The carrots in my meal were way under cooked and the spice level of the entree left a lot to the imagination.

Both entrees had a decent enough and unique flavor, but all in all the entire meal was at best, mediocre.

Update not sure what happened but I have completely stopped ordering from here because the last two times I ordered food. The soup oh my what happened it taste horrible almost like dirty dishwater The customer service is right on. Every time I call the lady that answers the phone is so sweet to me so it was really hard for me to write this review. Please fix the problem. The quality of the food has gone downhill.
