I order from this deli at least twice a month for the office and the staff always enjoy the deli box sandwiches and the My wife's Salad bowl. The deli box sandwiches comes on hoagie rolls, chips and a cookie. I didn't cater from them today so I physically went in to get 2 sandwiches. I was very disappointed. Johnny T took my order. Both of my sandwiches came out on white bread when I specifically said hoagie. I said I wanted the roast beef toasted and the turkey cold. The turkey came out 1st and was served hot. I repeated what I wanted. Johnny asked them to make it over. I waited longer than I expected so when I got both of my orders, I just left. They threw the sandwiches together, as if they didn't card; I guess because I asked them to make the turkey over. Again, both sandwiches were on regular white bread and not the hoagie, and they only toasted the bread on the roast beef. The meat and the cheese were not toasted. I paid close to $25 for 2 sandwiches. Seem like Johnny was more concerned about tipping for the "people in the kitchen" before I confirmed payment. I tipped before my order was completed which is fine, but I guess my orders were made according to my 15% tip. I was already in the car, and too frustrated to go back in and ask for a refund. I ended up going around the corner to another deli and ordered the same exact thing. They listened, got my order correct and wasn't pushing a tip or rushing me. Johnny was not unprofessional, but my order was not right, even when I sent the turkey back. I said Hoagie bread 3 times. Sandwiches were not worth...
Read moreI went in to order lunch and ask about "Groucho's Gives Back" for a nonprofit I'm working with to raise money for displaced families that have been driven from their storm-damaged homes in Columbia. The website literally says, "If you have a cause or organization within the community that we serve and would like to partner with us on a % night or event, please contact us."
I decided to stop by for lunch and inquire further while there. The cashier cut me off mid-sentence and told me he didn't have time for me in a rather abrasive tone. Taken aback by the abrupt interruption, I just left without even ordering anything. I have been to many businesses in Columbia (even other Groucho's) and have never been treated this rudely when asking about community giving. He could've just said they are unable to participate at this time. I completely understand if that's the case, I would just appreciate a bit more respect in telling me so.
I love Groucho's, but I'm not sure I'll be coming back to this location. The food is great, but the lack of respect for me and complete disregard for my inquiry left me with a bad taste in my mouth (despite not even eating anything!)
Update (1 month later): They never did follow up with me. The email provided by the owner is unresponsive. I was willing to give them a chance to redeem themselves, but I guess they really don't care. I'm going to drop my previous 2 stars to 1 and definitely won't be...
Read moreHate having to leave a bad review on a local restaurant that I enjoy going to but the service and treatment that I received today was absurd. Due to the st pats festival it took me a while to get parking and walk over. Once I got inside I heard the lady on the far side of the counter say “online order, if nobody claims it I’m throwing it away”. I couldnt hear the name she called and worried that it was my order I asked the the employee closest to me if she knew what name was called. She replied with “that isn’t my job” and then proceeded to reiterate that after I was trying to explain that I couldn’t hear. Annoyed, I went to the other side of the counter trying to get another employee. After a few minutes the same employee who said it “wasn’t her job” came out of her way to say “I don’t need your attitude” then promptly walked away. Me and the other patrons around me were all shocked. I’ve eaten Grouchos at least once a week since I’ve moved to Columbia (loved the brown moose) and always had decent experiences but this unwarranted rudeness was enough to deter me from wanting to come back. I hope that in the future you will train your employees better in customer interaction and respect because this employee was a terrible representative for...
