Sunset Overlook — Restaurant in Columbia

I didn't have a good experience here and I don't recommend coming here. This past weekend was my birthday and I wanted to rent out the outside bubble for this. They told me that there would be service out there and I was told it sat around 7-8 people. I initially rented it from 7-10pm. They sent me an invoice, but then quickly changed it and told me that they only had it available from 7:30-10pm. They resent me the invoice with the adjusted price, which was great. I paid it and never even opened the first invoice that was sent. When I got there at my time, it was a great start; the waitress came out very often to check on us to get drinks and food. It was little cold since the heater in the bubble didn't work very well. I had a few more friends arrive and easily fit 10 people in the bubble. A short time later, I had a woman rudely tell us that it was clearly stated on my invoice that only 8 people were allowed in the bubble. I never saw this, and it definitely wasn't mentioned to me in my email exchanges. We had half my group move inside, and I asked about it as I wasn't told this. I was told that it was on my invoice, which I pulled up. This small font wasn't on the second, corrected, invoice that I paid. It was located on the first invoice, which I didn't even open since it was wrong. After asking about this, I still had 1.5 hours left of reserved time in the bubble. Once I went back out, our waitress came back to us with our checks and had closed our tabs. We didn't see anyone else to serve us after that. After having an hour of no service, the rest of my group moved inside, where we also were not served. I had hoped for a great night to celebrate my birthday here, but instead was ignored and didn't even get more than a couple drinks the whole night. I wouldn't come back.

EDIT In reply to the comment from Sunset Overlook- You didn't apply a "discount" to my bill, that was the appropriate amount as you shortened my initial reservation I agreed to. I did open the initial invoice email only after asking about this disclosure an hour into my reservation so I was not aware of it prior to arriving. I’ve been going here for several years with my book club group and we’ve always enjoyed holding it here. However, tonight that was not the case! I ordered a salad and buffalo chicken dip. I usually get the buffalo chicken dip and know what I’m getting. This time, the dip was very dry and not good at all. I told an older lady with short hair and a hat that I couldn’t eat it because it was not good and too dry. She said, “I can only take half off since you did order it.” I said, “ok… that’s fine.” I didn’t care for a discount I just wanted them to know it tasted bad so they could fix it for others. Anywho, that gave a bad taste in my mouth. Then my friends of the book club came outside while we were waiting, and they said they were basically kicked out while gathering their things. I’ve never heard of small businesses pushing their customers out. We’ve been there multiple times and we’ve never had to bd kicked out right at close. They while my friends were smoking outside, the same lady bursted out the doors and told us the outside is closed as well and we needed to leave. Went to see Eric Pruitt Band a couple weeks ago! I loved the porch and open seating around on the grass. My crew brought a couple blankets and chairs and we were good to go. The sunset was absolutely beautiful. We tried the berry sangria, it was alright. When I went back to the bar, it was getting busier and I could tell that some of the seasonal bartenders were getting frustrated with the rather young looking guys that were trying to help. Ended up never getting my vodka sprite. One of the guys was on his phone when I came back to close my tab and didn't realize I was waiting for a while. Food was alright, but I was glad to see a yummy pizza food truck! Hopefully they fix their bartending kinks while they're getting their feet under them. Can't wait to go back for...
