I waited until I was calm enough to write this review. My husband and I love their snoots and that Is the only main dish that we order. We ordered all the time on Saturdays, maybe once a month or so. It was a Sunday and very out of character for us to order, but we did. We had the craving. When we made it home, all the way to St Louis, the flavor was off and it was literally us biting into mushy fat and rubbery skin. We know how snoots suppose to taste. We've been eating them all of our lives. We also know how this establishment cooks them. I called right away and spoke to a young man (should have gotten his name) that told us to come back for two more plates at our convenience and my name would be on the wall. We came back.....gave my phone number and name and was told there was no such wall but the lady did say she would make us the plates. The manager was sitting at the bar and over heard the conversation. I explained what I was told, there was a different cook on Saturday than Sundays. That there is a lady chef on Saturdays and a man was working on Sundays. He denied this and said he's the only chef and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food there. He acknowledged he knows the person that answered the phone and that they shouldn't have told me that. I tried explaining my experience to him but he made me feel like a liar because this restaurants is perfect and incapable of selling bad food. I was really disappointed by the attitude of the owner and will never return, not that I think they will mind. Guess I will go to beast craft on Saturday and try them out. Sad that the owner is rude and doesn't care about...
Read moreMy family and I visited Mr. BBQ on Friday for fried fish for lent. We wanted to try something different than our usual fried fish at Turner Hall. I can only speak about the limited menu items since we went on a Friday so I can’t speak on their BBQ. However, we do plan on visiting again for that in the future. I knocked a star on service just because I didn’t enjoy being asked right as we sat down what we wanted to drink. A minor thing that could definitely be fixed! As far as the food goes, I was a little disappointed in the cod I ordered. The breading wasn’t sticking to the fish and wasn’t as flavorful as I’d hoped. My husband’s catfish was very good. Side salad was a great portion, I enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the green beans were decent. My husband had the stewed tomatoes that we both liked. Kids were happy as they don’t need much to be pleased! We had the Mac and cheese and hush puppies as well. I didn’t care for the mac n cheese because it came out cold and just wasn’t flavorful. Some of the hush puppies seemed doughy and undercooked. Overall, our experience wasn’t a bad one, just a few critical things for us to keep in mind when we go...
Read moreInconsistent quality, rude staff and manager. They seem to be annoyed with customers. I think he is in the wrong business. We went there one time for the fried fish and it was awesome so we went back a second time it was a completely different experience. Food was cold, and/or overcooked and the atmosphere is unusual to say the least. The owner tends to sit at the bar taking up several barstool and uses the bar as his office while he complains about the business and uses profanities. The third and last time we went in only lasted about five minutes…we were going to order some fish and give it one final chance, so we sat down at the bar to order a beer with our waitress and I asked how much the tap beer was and without turning and looking at me the owner says loudly “it’s regular price!” We went ahead and ordered a couple drinks, but I wasn’t happy about it. Needless to say, we finished the two beers and I refuse to give them any more of my money. They seem to only be polite to the few usual customers that sit around the bar from what we could tell. We’ve had better food elsewhere. We have definitely had...
