I have been a customer of theirs since 2007. I have always loved their cherry pies. However, it seems since the new ownership has started in 2023 the cherry pie crust isn't the same anymore. It used to be flaky and cooked. Below is a picture of how they used to come and another of how they come now. When I called to ask what I need to do or ask to get the crust to rise and be flaky, Samantha was not nice because I told her I didn't have access to an oven on Memorial weekend camping to cook the top more. My family advised the dough to be soggy and inedible. I told Samantha it was gross. She got upset and told me not to use the term "gross" for it. Soggy dough is gross and I am sure not going tell her it was good. She did offer to switch it out on Tues after Memorial but I was taken back by her getting upset when I merely wanted to know how to get the crust cooked like it used to be cooked. If the crust is soggy and gross then it's soggy and gross. I'm not going to sugar coat it . If you can't handle someone saying that something didn't turn out right for a 20$ pie making it gross then maybe customer service isn't your forte. I surely wasn't rude about it but it definitely made me change my mind about supporting local small business. At least yours

Edit 2024: The new owners immediately changed all the recipes to include animal products. It is really sad to lose the one place as a vegan family where we could pop in any day and feel like we were considered and had options to choose from. Ahlemeyer was where we went for celebrations like anniversaries and the birth of our child and it was where we went when days were hard, like our dog passing (which you cannot plan a vegan order for in advance - we need options on shelves). So sad to see this option go and to lose inclusivity in Columbus which so dearly needs more of it. Original Review 2021: We love Ahlemeyer bakery! Their staff is super sweet, talented bakers and so their baked goods are delicious!! They’ve slowly transitioned their menu to avoid animal products and I’ve shared them with folks who aren’t vegan and no one can tell. 🤗 I love that this business is inclusive and family owned. The pecan rolls are bomb - thank me later.
