Ok i absolutely love doing reviews like this one. I want to be very careful on how I word this so it's not to lose the caliber of respect this place deserves in translation. I am going to be frank and up front on this review. Ok The building is small. My wife and I have never been to this established after living in North Vernon for the last 6 years. My wife is handicap in order to get into the restaurant you have to walk up three steps to get in to the restaurant ( not wheelchair friendly or walker for that matter ) one of the employees came and helped me get my wife's walker in the door as I helped my wife in.much thanks for the hospitality. Entering the place looked more like a soup kitchen rather than a restaurant but thats ok as we where paying for our food i had mention to the employee ringing up our food that it was our 1st time eating there. From this moment on I was thoroughly impressed. Let me explain my wife and I took our food and sat down.As I eat i also observe the staff no matter where I'm at doing a review. I ordered the fish dinner with 2 sides and my wife got the fish sandwich with fried potatoes. As I was eating i noticed the door to the restaurant NEVER stade shut. I thought to myself is it lunch time? But no it was almost 2 pm why is this place SO Darn BUSY? I mean the food was ok. I mean it was like you would expect from a fish fry. It wasn't great it wasn't bad i would have liked to see some onion rings some hush puppies maybe some french fries but it still was good. So again why was this place so busy. Let me tell you why. Walmart McDonald's taco bell all them other BIG corporations. That get business by forced volume take note. The reason Ye Olde Fish House is so busy is because these people who I assumed because I did not ask are the owners. Conduct and maintain the attitude and atmosphere..The customer is always right. Just like the good old days And for what I could see it was serving them in their business quite well. I do reviews all over North Vernon Seymour Columbus Indiana and where ever I may journey out and the hospitality respect is 100% top dollar here. This place gets a 4 star 🌟 from me not because of the food witch was good but because the owners really understand that you can still treat the customer with dignity courtesy and respect still be successful business owners. I hope this review makes sense. I will be back to this restaurant maybe after my wife recovers a little better but I will be back if you like my review give me a thumbs up and...
Read moreLove this place. It’s a reminder of home. You walk in and are met with the smell of foods and desserts from corner to corner. If you’re looking for fine dining this isn’t it, instead this place offers something warmer. It offers something a glamorous building cannot. It’s a homestead. Filled with love, compassion, and an appreciation for food, Ye Olde Fish House gives you a taste of what America is lacking, just goodness.
The food is divine and has really tackled the overall need for something wholesome and stick to your ribs. The desserts, lined up for the taking in what I can only assume is a delicious array of sweets and textures for the picking. Gone are the ridiculous amount of choices and sides, this establishment gives you just the right amount of options to create a perfect meal. Pick your main, pick your side, sit down, and enjoy. I’ve had the liberty of sampling just about everything at this point and it is always amazing what flavors and enjoyment you can get with their food. And to top off food, you have a price that is unmatched when you compare quality and quantity with other establishments around the area. As opposed to the fast food joints around, when you pay for the food here you are paying to be FULL and SATISFIED. Well worth the money you pay which is not much AT ALL.
The service is to die for as well, you are greeted with smiles and willingness as you pass through the threshold of this humble establishment. Not only does the smell greet you, but the atmosphere give by the employees make you feel at home. It’s one of the few places I’ve been to within a town like this that reminds me of my mountain home back in Kentucky. The smiles, the grace, the humble simplicity, makes me feel like I’m back at my aunts house.
All in all, you aren’t going to find rose petals on the plates, you’re not going to find gold embellished menus, or cocktails that cost you $30 dollars a glass. Instead what you will find is something you have been missing, a slice of home in the form of a pie, or a fish sandwich that will instantly remind you of fond memories, or green beans and Mac and cheese that will make you think of grandma’s house. I will continue to come here for as long as they are open. They are a glorious establishment that deserves the accolades they have received.

Read moreWhen was the last time you were out to eat and a manager stopped at every table to see if everyone was satisfied. It happened at Ye Olde Fish House this week, and it was the kind of service that calls you to return. My wife and I had our first lunch at Ye Olde Fish House and it was an enjoyable experience. From the moment we walked in the door we could tell they were interested serving us with a smile, even though there were many customers in this small building. As the picture shows, the fish sandwhich is stacked high with fish which provides more fish in each bite, unlike most fastfood restaurants. Others have noted that they do not use much salt, for which I am grateful. I fully enjoyed my lunch, and I was not thirsty the rest of the day as I am with other "fried" lunches. Adding ketchup and spicy mustard gave the sandwhich a well rounded flavor. We did not try the desserts, but did enjoy the free refill on the drink that came with my meal. If you enjoy a good fish sandwhich and apprreciation when you visit a local business then Try Ye Olde Fish House. ...
