Fisher Chicken and Fish is in a strip mall on East Livingston, and seemed to have had a constant stream of customers coming and going during a weekday lunch hour. I placed my order at the intake window and they told me it would be seven minutes - turned out to be only three or four.
Fry batter was tasty and lent the crunch one looks for in deep fried foods. I went for chicken wings and small shrimp and both were excellent - prepared just right in the deep fryer down to the exact second. Along with four chicken wings and ten shrimp, you get a handful of what seemed to be hand cut fries, two pieces of white bread, and an ample number of sauce packets - tartar sauce, hot sauce and ketchup. The white bread treatment is something I've written about before - I'll never understand it. Does anyone ever eat that oil soaked bread? What is it for?
Everything was perfectly prepared. The chicken wings were excellent, and larger and more meaty than I expected. Lots of taste, and the shrimps were more tasty than you usually find as well - prepared perfectly - not underdone nor excessively dry. The batter was also impressive, but I found it to be built on a strong salt foundation, and the amount of salt was more than I would like for my tastes. That, and the white bread, remain my only small complaints, however....
Read moreWe decided to look up a good fish fry place in our area and came across Fisher's reviews. We drove 15 minutes (1 way) to get their food based on good reviews. This just shows good reviews don't always mean a good experience.
Our order came after someone else who walked in and ordered 5 minutes after us. They did not phone ahead either. _ Our order was incorrect in many ways. We were missing baked beans and coleslaw we paid for. Check your to go orders in the restaurant. The food was, at best, mediocre. The fish contained an insane amount of pepper (we both drank some milk after the meal). The fries were soggy and bland. The only redeeming part was the hush puppies. They were quite tasty.
I did call and speak to the manager to complain about missing items we paid for. He, in his defense, did apologize and said if we drove out he would give me 2 orders of baked beans and coleslaw. I explained I wasn't going to drive 30 minutes round trip and let my fish get cold; he said next time we came he would give us free coleslaw and baked beans. I then told the owner it was our first and last experience with his restaurant.
Avoid this place. There are better fish fry places out there that will actually give you all the items you paid for and not taste bad...

Place reminds me of a spot that doesn’t get enough cash flow so in turn it’s serving days old food. Old grease they don’t switch out.
With reviews about how many meals they screw up to me it’ seems always convenient to them that they don’t make enough of something or forget….
Wake up: They don’t have it in stock and snatch your money. Bad attitudes and all. It’s just a quick money grab.
Hush puppy batter and cornmeal is rotten, pepper jack after taste (stay away)
Fish is bad. Idea get popular item because they will keep those in stock and fresh. Everything around that most likely is spoiling or days to a week old.
Way too many reviews confirming the same thing I had. Food poisoning which was confirmed by a doctor given it occurred an hour after eating along with a few others who had it the same day,
I think health department needs to make a legitimate move and...
