Absolutely terrible. Ordered cotton candy and a root beer. They took my teens’ money, and then substituted for two other flavors. But even worse is that the ice was in huge chunks and not even the fine ice they had before. It couldn’t even be eaten, so they had to leave both there and the staff wouldn’t refund their money. $13 for two cups full of rocks.
Update: downgraded to zero stars. Talked to the owner in person because I feel bad leaving an “anonymous” 1-star review. She said she knows the ice machine has gone bad, and doesn’t provide the nice shaved ice the kids had before, and they’re discontinuing that item in the future. But they stand by refusing my kids refund because he didn’t know how bad it was until after he started walking down the street (i.e. he already left the store). I keep seeing the owner reply that she “wants the chance to correct bad items/service” but in practice she doesn’t follow through. Ridiculous
Update 2: This owner is a serious bully. The person I talked to in person said she was the co-owner. Now the mom’s response below is making that sound like that's a lie. They might have changed the name from shaved ice to snow cone - I don't think my teens really appreciated the difference when ordering, but both imply to me that the ice can be eaten. My son described the "snow cone" as coming out in ice chunks identical to if you select ice in your cup at a Wendy's - in other words INEDIBLE unless you want cracked teeth. Yes, they left the store, to sit on the curb across the street with your drinks because there's minimal seating inside. And to be nice to you, and because they're teenagers, they really tried to make their drinks work, but it took a few minutes before they realized they're truly not edible. And they dislike face to face conflict so they called you within just a few minutes from across the street, but Jeez - if you bullied them on the phone the way you write below, no wonder they just gave up. Negative 1 stars ...
Update 3: I appreciate you toning down your 1st response, and removing much of what you were wrong about. Back up to 0 stars. What do the kids want? Their money back or an exchange for something edible. Paying an entire hour of teen wages for two cups of block ice (NOT a snow cone — we all know what a snow cone is, which you can chew and enjoy in your mouth) because either your machine was not working correctly that day, or you’re misnaming inedible chunks of ice as a “snow cone”. I tried explaining the ice problem face-to-face with the self-described “co-owner” already, I don’t think I need to come back to meet the other co-owner. If you honestly think people can’t discover how bad a product is a few minutes after they leave your store (and still have the entire uneaten product to show you) then I don’t see how we’ll come to an...
Read moreUpdate: I was finally able to visit and get my ice cream in a reasonable amount of time. I did not see the owner working, so hopefully that means you hired some additional help. I have to say that I had a wonderful experience and absolutely loved the sundae 🍨! I will be back!
Previous review: I realize you are a small business, I totally understand that. However, your wait times are insane. I was excited to try something on your crazy menu, but after waiting in an uncertain line for 15 minutes and not hearing another person get their order taken or see anyone eating ice cream, I decided to go.
After reading other reviews, I noticed this is a big issue that is growing. You have a great concept that really could take off. I recommend hiring some employees and giving up some control to get orders out more quickly, or the people who walk away may never come back.
It is hard to even get to the counter to place an order, let alone to make a complaint. Keep that in mind as people leave who are unhappy with the product or service.
I hope that you find a solution that works for you... Looking at the business you are losing, it is a great problem to have as long as you address it quickly.
I will try to visit again in a couple months and check your ice cream out as long as I don't have to wait an hour...
Read moreThis is a cute and unique place that you'd be hard pressed to find anything else like it. This place would probably blow any child's mind.
Unfortunately, the price for the extreme shakes is pretty steep. I get that it's a lot of work but 15 dollars for a small milkshake with some hostess cakes on top of the lid is really steep. Also the extreme shakes just don't have a price next to them so I didn't know I was paying that much till I got to the register already. Half of the rest of the menu just didn't have prices either?
Also the amount of time it takes to make them is pretty crazy. I was the first in line and it still took 15 to 20 minutes to make the extreme shake. I couldn't imagine how long it'd be if people were in front of me. Going into an ice cream place, you kind of expect to be in and out.
All in all, I couldn't give a place so unique any less stars, but there is definitely a lot of room for streamlining from a customers...
