I had my first visit on a Saturday shortly before noon. The place had a single customer.
I asked the waitress about gluten-free options and she said she had no idea. We discussed it very briefly and then decided maybe I should not bring my celiac family to this place.
They serve Coke products for drinks so that's a plus for me.
I wanted to try their cheese dip, so I ordered some. Note that the small sizes are very small, which was just as well because the cheese dip was plain/ average in my experience when I stray from my favorite Mexican place.
I ordered some guacamole which had onions, cilantro and tomatoes cut up and sprinkled on top. Clearly the ingredients were fresh.
The place was clean and pleasant, the table had sweetener and salt on the table. The music was loud and they also have two TVs playing in the background. Conversation might be a little difficult here. Certainly don't bring anyone that has hearing issues. They will not be able to participate in any sort of conversation.
Chips were provided with the cheese dip and guacamole that I ordered, but they had no salsa. Normally. I like to add salsa to my food. Also, I assume they're very understaffed because staff is sparse. In other words, I didn't see much of them. I'm still sitting around trying to figure out how to pay my bill that I still have not been given. The group that was here before being paid at the podium but there's not anyone at the podium either at the moment so maybe the bill is up there.
I ordered a deluxe Taco that was okay.
I also ordered a ground beef chimichanga that was okay.
Maybe it was the lack of salsa to add to my food, but nothing really stood out to me that would make me want to come back. The food is clearly using decent ingredients and was well made, but I ate half my food at best. I will go home and have a snack.
Also, since I never did tell me how to pay for my meal, let me tell you. 15 minutes after they'd cleared my table and then never came back, so I finally walked up to the front podium and waited another 5 minutes and then someone came calculated my bill and then I paid. So, don't wait for them to give you a receipt. Won't. They knew it was my first time and they didn't tell me how to pay.
Is the food okay? Sure. Wasn't great, but it was okay. While I was there. Two large groups of people that appeared to be Mexican showed up, so I'm assuming that natives like the food. Keep that in mind. Having some kind of salsa would have made a big difference...
Read moreNot a great review unfortunately. I very much wanted to be able to give this neighborhood me can restaurant a great review but I can't. I ate here a few years ago and was very disappointed. Now, a few years later, I figured it was time for a try. Certainly, they improved. No, not at all.
The environment was ok, but the side room was being used for dance lessons and the children waiting on the dancers were using the middle of the restaurant, next to our table, as a playground.
The queso tasted like it came from a jar, I could swear I recognized the brand. The chips were thick and slightly burnt. The chimichangas were adequate, but the Fajita combo, which came out very nice and hot and had a great portion size (you could easily feed 2) had no flavor at all.
Ultimately, I come to Mexican restaurants for great food, and there are a lot of options for outstanding Mexican food in the area. I...
Read moreMust give it a try! The service is excellent, and the food is incredible. Their salsa is different from most restaurants. It's more like sauce-based salsa with less tomato flavor. When they serve cheese dip, it comes with a bottle of hot sauce. The dip is good, but the hot sauce makes it even better. We had Mi Pueblo burritos, which contain three kinds of meat covered with three sauces, just like the Mexican flag color! The taste of meat, the flavor, and the color are excellent. I'll say that we never had such good burritos. We also had ceviche. It is fresh but more like bland food. I would recommend having it as a shared starter rather than a meal. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The only thing I must complain about is the time to download the menu. It took me seconds to download it, but my friend couldn't get it at all. If you don't want to waste time waiting, find the menu before...
