Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I am working down a list of all diners in LA and this being a well-known one on the list. Located in Commerce it’s not my favorite area of town, but the food quality is worth the visit. They have a large parking lot with free parking and all of the staff that we encountered were very polite and prompt. Inside is quite large and half of it is a sports bar with big screen TVs and a full service bar. They did a good job on the design inside and would definitely be somewhere I’d want to check out in a future visit. They don’t have outdoor seating but plenty of indoor options.
They have a huge menu filled with all sorts of classics and they really market their steaks and meat, especially. For my breakfast, I chose the Hamburger Steak & Eggs and thought it was all around great. The patty was extra flavorful and I opted for a side biscuit with gravy, which was a great choice because it was very fluffy and very good. Pricing is extremely fair and the portion sizes are large. I would definitely recommend to any fan of diners and especially anyone in or visiting...
Read moreOzzie's Diner is a real 1950's diner. It is not a newer nicer dressed up to be a 50's diner. It is the real thing. It is family owned. They serve wonderful comfort food, just like you would get in any great diner. They also have a full bar.
The place is so cute and comfortable. There is a counter and great booths. It is spotless inside and out. There is not a bad meal to be had there.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast fare is great. Their pancakes are fluffy and wonderful. Their hash browns are divine. You have to try their biscuits and gravy. Their waffles are super tasty.
We especially love their burgers. They are cooked to order just the way you might want them. Their fries are great and they have a chili that is wonderful. The mac and cheese is so very good. They can make a great salad.
You will love their beefeater sandwich. They have a menudo soup that is just the best.
Parking is easy and free.
The service is fast and very friendly. All of the staff is great.

Read moreI've been going to Ozzie's almost every day for a week due to its convenience from my motel.
The food is hit or miss, honestly, but mostly they hit it out of the park. I was unimpressed with my one onelette, but the gravy is the best this Texas native ever had from a restaurant, and the soup of the day hasn't let me down yet. Desserts are great, especially the flan, or the chocolate cake if you want something ridiculously decadent. Portions are on the generous side of reasonable.
If it were just food, I'd give it four stars, but the service is above & beyond. I don't know what the one guy did to get snubbed - or if he just has personal 'issues' with people speaking Spanish at all - but I've never seen any employee be less than warmly welcoming and helpful, and the owner is a delightful gentleman who can often be seen sitting at the counter & chatting with customers.
All in all, it's an idyllic small town diner in the middle of Los Angeles. What more can you really ask, especially a long...
