Tacos Mexico — Restaurant in Compton

The food is not bad, but it certainly wasn't great or amazing - at least not when it came to the al pastor meat. Where was the pineapple? Why wasn't the meat red from the annato and guajillo marinade? What marinade? This was just seasoned pork meat with some onions. I had built up Tacos Mexico as the BEST place for al pastor, but they failed big time. I will NOT be coming back for al pastor (tacos or tortas). I will go to the Tacos Mexico in Huntington Park in the hopes that the al pastor epic fail was an isolated event and not an indication that their authenticity has gone down the drain.

P.S. My teenage son, who doesn't like al pastor because of the pineapple, thought the al pastor torta was awesome.

P.S.S. This place has a drive-thru option which is great if you don't feel...

I never ate here myself. Thirty-plus years ago, while in high school, my Cousins loved to order wet Burritos there. I avoid 'traditonal' Mexican food restaurants because they tend to use copious amounts of raw onion and fill their dishes with refried beans, sour cream (crema) and guacamole. It's probably cool, if you like that stuff. I prefer more Americanized food from Del Taco or El Pollo Loco instead. I did realize, after viewing the photos, that I may have been offered a bite of their Carne Asada Burritos once. I remember it as being meaty and tasty, like a good Torta sandwich. I never went back myself though, on my own. I may correct that...

I didn't eat there just pulled over to use my phone to find a place to eat that I could buy a gift card or pay via paypal a head of time cause I left my wallet at home, and fix my map to get home. I was there about 10-20 min. When I first pulled in, it was dead. With seconds it was 1 car after another and the line was wrapped around the building in to the street.. So either its amazing, about to close, or its just like Tommy's in the SFV, the only thing open that late when the bars close, ur the DD n ur friends are all drunk wanting food before getting dropped off... Either way looks like a place u should and I will try at...
