In A Pinch Cafe & Bakery Sandwiches, Cafes, Salad Concord, NH
Jul 8, 2025 I have been buying lunch, desserts, and occasionally breakfast, from In A Pinch, starting in the late 90's. It has had it's up and downs like any business, but absolutely nothing that would be cause to stop going there. Until today. After leaving a dr's appt, I decided to treat myself and also surprise some friends, with some salads from the ready to go section, and of course lemon bars. I also wanted to pick up some spinach feta croissants for the next few mornings. I didn't see any in the case so I waited to be greeted to ask if any available. I was the only customer waiting and the female at the counter wasn't on the phone taking an order. Regardless, she wouldn't acknowledge my arrival. Even so, I still politely waited. When she finally looked at me, without any greeting, I asked if they had any of the croissants out back, as I would take them unbaked or frozen. The female staff replied, "there's 3 there", and pointed to a tray off to the side, of uncovered products. Not sure that was where she was pointing, I said, "you mean those items sitting out, uncovered?" Her unnecessary, snarky response, "Yeah just like every other restaurant." I said, "Really? Well that's not true." I did not expect her to continue, and I had planned to finish my order and get the heck away from her poor customer service, crap attitude. But, she choose to add, "You don't like it go somewhere else." WOW. She then turned her attention to a guy that walked in and that she seemed acquainted with. Her demeanor with him was 100% different from the unfriendly attitude I received, even before opening my mouth to speak. I continued to wait quite awhile once he left. I was hoping to see a manger. She had no idea why I waiting. She didn't bother to ask. I could have been waiting to place the $70.00 order I had intended to get when I first walked in. She continued to ignore me and even stuck her head in the back room where I have seen the manager come from on previous visits. I figured she was telling them about me. If she did, they didn't care enough to step out to speak with me. I finally walked out. Getting in my car, I called the cafe, and of course she answered. I said, "since you kept ignoring me, I thought I would come out and call instead. I would like to speak to the manager." She hung up on me. So I took my cash elsewhere. I paid close to 90.00 for 3 meals and desserts, more than I was planning, but it was so worth it to not have to deal with a crap attitude while paying hard earned $$$$. Instead, I was treated like a customer should be, with a happy hello and a smiling face of someone who knows what positive customer service is. Plus my friends enjoyed the surprise and loved the food. Smacking myself now for wasting my money all those years, for it to end on this note. Upside, we now have a new, great restaurant...
Read moreI really hate to give such a low star review, I used to love in a pinch café. The last two times I’ve been in on the first occasion I ordered a curry chicken salad sub, and there was no joke so much salt on it. it seemed like somebody actually poured a mound of salt on my sandwich. I had my friend try. He spit it out. I went in today and was one of three people in there. The two other people in there had complained that it was taking too long. One woman was told her order was lost. I ordered a tarragon chicken sub and was going to eat it in house, but it was a solid 80° in there and I was sweating Just sitting there so I got it to go. Once I finally opened my sub, I realized they gave me the wrong sub and ended up with some kind of bahn mi sandwich that I had to throw away. Ordered a sandwich a week ago and got home and realized it was nothing I ordered and couldn’t eat it due to certain ingredients on it. I called and the “manager” was very apologetic and said I could come in another time for a free sandwich and took my name.
I called back today and the owner got on the phone and was incredibly rude saying I should have returned the sandwich (sorry not driving 25 mins for your mistake). He told me his employees always read the order back (which they didn’t),he said it was virtually my fault and I should find someplace else to order sandwiches. Needless to say I won’t be supporting this...
