In 40 years of enjoying Thai food at restaurants, I have never wanted to write a review.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of getting dinner at Thai Esane, in Concord NC tonight. I foolishly based my decision to go there exclusively on their website photos, ignoring the underwhelming 3.6/5 reviews here on Google and 3.8/5 on Yelp.
The food was just flat out bad, no flavor covered in hot spices. Chicken is typically sliced, in virtually all Thai restaurants. The low grade chicken in my Pad Thai was cut in chucks with plenty of gristle and cartilage attached.
The person I went with had the Panang Curry - disastrous! Curry is usually served in an aromatic coconut milk broth, this was served with something with the consistency of Thousand Island dressing (HORRIBLE).
Add insult to injury, they don't offer or serve tap water to drink with your meal, you have to buy a beverage. Worse, were asked for napkins. The guy behind the counter, who could barely speak a word of English, pointed to me to go ask for napkins from another restaurant located in the same food courts; instead of getting his lazy legs up from behind the counter and go get napkins for his customers.
This was such a terrible dining experience, I am hoping to save you from wasting your hard earned income.

Read morePad Thainis one of the best I’ve had in Charlotte area. The sauce is perfect, flavorful, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. I love the spice level, which typically has to be adjusted for everyone’s palates, but this was perfect.
The Thai Tea could use some work. It didn’t taste right, it was a bit sour like either it was brewed too long or the tea had gone bad. I should have been more vocal about it but I just let it go and went about my day.
My only wish is that there were more Isaan food options. I was so excited to see that in their name but they offered the basic noodle dishes and apps. People’s palates are opening up and I’m sure they would love to start seeing more different dishes than your typical...
Read moreThis was a pleasant surprise. We came to Gibson Mill to meet a friend and check out the shops. Of course, I wanted to see the food court. They had a nice variety, yet I immediately went to this Thai restaurant as I haven't seen a lot of Thai places here.
They have a good mix of options, and the prices were good. I got the chicken Pad See Eew. They cooked it fresh in front of me, and it was ready in less than 12 minutes. It was exactly what I needed. The flavors and portion size...
