My best friend and I have done over 100 escape rooms across Virginia, North Carolina and in Boston, it really has become our thing.
Some of the things I look for in a prime escape room is immersion into the theme, puzzles that make sense, and a fun and friendly staff
I can safely tell you Valcarol has created one of my top three escape rooms of all time and is a strong contender for my overall favorite escape room I’ve ever done. The set design, you can tell, is impeccable. You can see the handcrafted detail that is exceptional. The props, the puzzles, the technology in the room is top notch.
The puzzles, albeit some don’t come and hit you right in the face of what to do or what to do next, all make sense. The flow of the room is just a good balance of linear and non linear (meaning, you need to do one thing to get to the next puzzle or not) that will keep any size group entertained. It is a bit tight in the first part of the room that I personally wouldn’t want more than 4-6, it does open up after a while.
And finally the staff, meeting both of them and their friendliness and their ability to pick up on how my friend and I like to do escape rooms and interact with our game master made this experience our favorite in the Charlotte area. They were fun, friendly and engaged in our game which in turn made us more engaged in the room
Too long and didn’t read the above? Go here. It’s worth it. The price is great, the room is great and the staff is greater. It’s worth going to the concord area if you are even close to it and I very much highly...
Read moreOur family loves escape rooms and do them frequently. We have done 2 rooms at this place the first was the Crystal Cave which we enjoyed and would recommend. The puzzles are challenging and there’s enough of them that if you have a larger group people can spread out and work on different puzzles at the same time. The staff are nice and professional. Now let’s talk about the sabotaged system room. To say this room was a disappointment would be an understatement. We had 5 people in our group and the puzzles are designed so everyone has to solve one puzzle at a time. The puzzles are simple and not challenging. They have a who done it at the end of the game. This felt like it was added because there was not enough puzzles so they needed something to kill more time. On top of that the video quality is so poor you have to watch the same boring videos multiple times to hear what they are saying. We completed all the puzzles in 30 minutes with no clues and spent 15 minutes on the video portion. If I could give this room zero stars I would. So I gave three stars as a compromise between...
Read moreJust WOW. Loved everything about Valcarol. We went to Charlotte for the weekend and had heard about Valcarol from several others whom had done it. We had been slightly apprehensive before, as it is a little out of the way, and unfortunately many 'out of the way' places are that for a reason. Not here. Worth every extra mile! And let me tell you, the bang for the buck is REAL! Reminiscent of the many expensive rooms I've done on Orlando, Vegas and NY, this is price perfect and delivers in all the right ways! Immersion? Check. Amazing puzzles? Check. Great story? Double check. Fantastic GMs in character? Check. We were able to sit down and talk to the owners, and it seemed we instantly became old friends. Definitely a highlight of our trip, and a game that we will forever remember.
