El Puerto — Restaurant in Concordia

In Concordia KS. We had chips and salsa, and margaritas. Yum! Since there was four of us, we had a variety of dishes, all of which were very good. Very cute, clean restaurant, very good food. They have a white cheese sauce used with some of the dishes, and we also got a bowl to use with the chips! Good stuff! Visit Concordia for the food! Deep fried cod, chopped and mixed with salad, with mango salsa on top, served on soft taco shells. Great! 8/14/22. Same great service. I really like that they know their customers, because they greet you like a friend. Today I was by myself, and didn't have a margarita because I've been on a high-fiber diet, but I was hungry for some meat! So I ordered the Especial El Puerto: tender steak smothered with sauteed tomatoes, green peppers and onions, and served with refried beans and Spanish rice. Wow, everything was so good! I don't usually stray from my old faves, but I craved a steak and I'm glad I ordered this dinner. I recommend the Especial if you're hungry! 10/22: Seems like I come here a lot, doesn't it? Once or twice a month usually. Today I had Carne Asada, two thin steaks served with grilled onions, salad, guacamole, rice and beans. Very good, as usual. I'm very conflicted about my star rating, because the service was easily 5 stars. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond what they had to do. The food itself was a slightly different issue. I ordered a lunch special to go that was supposed to come with a chili relleno. Chili relleno is literally "filled pepper", and tends to be an anaheim chili, roasted, stuffed with cheese sauce and maybe ground beef, then dipped in batter and fried. When I got to my destination and opened up my meal, I thought perhaps they had forgotten my relleno, because it was nowhere to be found. When I was nearly done eating the beans, I found a tiny strip of a green chili at the bottom of the pan along with some ground beef. That was apparently my relleno. Since I had ordered that menu item specifically because I was craving chili rellenos, it was a little disappointing. Fortunately, the portion sizes on everything else was enough that I at least did not leave hungry.

The food overall wasn't bad--it wasn't over or under seasoned and it didn't make me sick. It tasted good, it just wasn't what I had ordered. If you are hungry, want a quick bite with FANTASTIC service, and aren't too picky about what you ultimately get, El Puerto has...

We absolutely love all the wonderful staff, there are almost all of them know our order when we arrive. Very fast ,extremely friendly an always as walking by even if they are swamped an not even our server they ask of we need anything or drink refills. So happy that Concordia has such a friendly ,family business to go out to eat at. As well there prices are extremely reasonable an for sure get what u pay for. Our family personally loves to go eat there that is only place we go out to eat at in town.
