King Cones Castle — Restaurant in Connoquenessing Township

I am so sad that this review is not going to be as great as I thought it would be. We just moved to the area and have noticed the amount of cars lined up for what I thought would be quite the delectable treat. I had promised the family we would pull in the first time we didn't see a line in to the road. The day finally happened last weekend. I asked for a strawberry banana milkshake, orange slushie and a cone. The shake was made first and handed to me while they prepared the slushie. At first taste it reminded me of banana laughy taffy with no strawberry at all, the shake was yellow... I asked the young man if it was the right shake as they were busy and thought it may be someone else's. His response was a rude yes it yours with a huff. I told him it tasted like pure fake banana and didn't want it. Another worker asked what ordered and I told her and she said so what you want is a strawberry banana shake with a real banana as the young man rolled his eyes and stated then that's what you should've asked for. In my opinion most places do not have banana ice cream and if they do they are trained to ask fresh banana or banana soft serve. I was so put off that I just stated I was fine I didn't require anything else. The orange slushie was then served and it had zero syrup in it. It was basically just shaved ice. The cone was the only thing good. When it came time to pay the young man rang us up and still charged for the shake of which one sip was taken and it was thrown away by the employee himself (he threw it in the trash like an animal btw). I asked why when it was clearly not consumed due to taste alone would it not be comped? He went and asked another woman and she took it right off. I handed him my card which he grabbed and once swiped he through the card across the counter. Gave me a receipt and said not a word I, I asked why didn't I have to sign and he didn't answer. The person in front of us had to sign and only got 2 cones. So I left quite angry and bothered. I watched how he treated other patrons and it was a vast difference from the service we received. When I got home and calmed down I decided to call and speak to a manager, although she was pleasant I don't feel like it was handled very well. She offered a gift card and I denied as I was made to feel like a second class citizen in the way I was treated. I informed her that she should take that into consideration as if I was someone purely looking to gain from this experience, I would've accepted it. She apologized that she wasn't able to help me. I feel that I was discriminated against as no other person was treated with the disrespect that this young man treated us. I have left my number to be called by the owner or general manager and till have yet to receive a call. There are way better options in butler priced lower! King Cones Castle, is an awesome place to get ice cream! It was my first time being there and as we were driving to King cones Castle I said to my mother " I'm just going to get a small as usual." And she replied " Sweetheart King 👑 Cones Castle's small is almost the size of dairy Queen's large." And I thought to myself ( I guess I could go for a little bit more than a small, after all we did just wash the inside and outside of the Jeep and I was pretty sweaty and hot.) Well needless to say " They are not called KING CONES just because it's a cool name it's named King cones because not only do they have huge cones made for a king or queen, but the flavor was so natural and delicious not all flavors are created equal, I got a chocolate cone of course a small and the chocolate was so chocolatey.... I mean what more can I say? This place is AWESOME 👍🏼😎👍🏼! I know for sure when we're out that way or just want to take a cruise we will be going back to KING...

King Cones is honestly awesome. The ice cream is always great, the portions are huge, the prices are super affordable, and the staff is friendly and fast. They have a ton of options and they don’t skimp—you definitely get your money’s worth every time. The indoor and outdoor seating is great too, especially the grassy area out back. We love taking our dogs there to hang out while we enjoy our ice cream.

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the drive-thru situation. I don’t use it personally—I always just go inside—but the setup causes traffic to spill out onto Route 68, which can be dangerous. I know it’s not really the business’s fault since it’s just how the lot is laid out, but as someone who drives that road a lot, it’s become a real safety issue as the area gets busier.
