I don’t usually post bad reviews but this one deserves to be written. We have been ordering from this place for a while and we didn’t mind the terrible service from the guy who is at the register because the food is as Salvadoran as it will get in Conroe. However today I ordered what’s below and the tamales were not in our bags and there was an additional charge for the churros my husband bought. The soup was unpleasantly spicy which made me uneasy as it easy as it was supposed to be for my toddler. When I called to get a refund for what we did not get and the over charge they made me repeat the same thing about 3 times and put me in hold while they were looking for the receipt. They also told me hay the soup was always like that, which is a lie as I have ordered from this place before and it’s not like that. Nevertheless, I told them to keep the money as my hungry toddler was extremely inpatient but I will NEVER order from this place again! the owner is so sweet and takes care of her customers which is a shame as the people she has running the place don’t care one bit!

The only thing I get at San Jose Bakery is the pupusas since it is very delicious and well made. Other than the pupusas being highly rated, everything else, like service, timely manner of food given, and atmosphere, is severely lacking. Several times that I have come to this place to eat, they have taken between 15 to 25 minutes to give me my food. The person who takes the orders on the counter is not friendly. And, if you ask for like cutlery or anything that you might need, they are bothered. But I come back because, like other reviewers have mentioned, it is hard to find good pupusas in the Conroe area.

The BEST food!

You have to order first and then you can get your food for there or to-go. They have all my favorite food that you can’t really find any where else.

Their breakfast plate has plantains, black beans, crema de Salvadoran and eggs. So delicious! The best tortillas. They are thicker than store bought ones so you know they are really good! I can’t wait to try the papusas. And the conchas! So soft and flavorful. You can’t find these in stores. Amazing selection of pastries.

Brush up on your Spanish. Show courtesy and respect. You’ll love...
