Impromptu stop for dinner with a good friend of mine who had never tried Korean food before. There are some open seating areas as well as some booth-like seating areas— each with a smoke funnel above and a rounded grill plate in the center.
The owner was very hospitable and helped us with the cooking. We had a half portion of the pork and beef combo which was delicious. It came with six side dishes of pickles, generous helping a salad, etc. We ordered the fresh Soju and the original— the original was a bit sweeter and dryer but I preferred the fresh. Both very drinkable.
The meat was very good… Pork belly, kalbi beef, more pork and steak with three dipping sauces plus we each ordered a small bowl of rice. Tough to discuss the meat as a review since there are so many choices but definitely a place to which I would return. I’m giving the food a 4.5 because I almost never give a perfect score to anything.
The appetizers, noodle dishes etc. all looked promising so it’s too bad this place is so far from where I live! Don’t let the humble exterior fool you; this is definitely a great place to go have a great Korean lunch or dinner. Next time I want to try the Korean fried chicken and a...
Read moreWe went there for dinner on new year as a party of 6. Glad they were open since there was a lot of places that was closed at the time.
The place was in a small complex very easy to spot from the main road. Plenty of free parking here. The restaurant was not very big, but was pretty cozy with lots of smaller round tables with the grill on the center and exhaust above it, each table can fit 4-5 people comfortably.
Service was good, the owner was very nice. Food was great. Compared to a few other Korean BBQ that I've visited, the quality of the meats here are very good! We went with the 2 pork and 2 beef combo full size and it was good amount of meat to go around. The combo comes with either the steamed egg or the soybean soup. They also include rice and banchan (small plates) if you order bbq full size. The banchan was just okay, nothing special. We also tried their corn egg and added an extra ramen they were good too. We also ordered the dak gal bi, and it was a good size portion and was flavorful.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit here and would definitely be back...
Read moreWe ordered a pork/kimchi/tofu dish but it was way too sour and very very little meat, it looked like they took 1 piece of meat and just chopped it into tiny little pieces. We only had 2 bites and couldn't eat the rest so we let the server(owner?) know and asked to have it taken off the bill. She insisted that it was supposed to be that way and refused to take it off our bill. We've had that dish from other places before and none have ever been that sour. They charge $18 for that dish and barely gave any meat, wasn't worth it. The service was also terrible, she never once came to check on us or to even refill water. And the restaurant wasn't even busy, there were only 2 tables.
We've been here before and when it's good we give pretty generous tip. Once we tipped $20 on a $40 bill and she even remembers us. I was disappointed she didn't take the dish off the bill. This will be the last time...
