My bf and I haven't been here for months since I'm not really into seafood or anything else they sell. The only meal that has ever looked appetizing to me and will be the only thing I eat there are the green enchiladas. We were served chips and salsa to start and the first bowl of chips were stale and not that good tasting. The 2nd bowl of chips were much better and tasted fresher. The salsa was not that great. The salsa tasted like it had too many tomatillos added to it which gives it sour taste. My bf ordered the tore de mariscos (seafood tower) and I had the green enchiladas. I loved everything about my meal except for the chicken. I have never had chicken at any other mexican restaurant that was not soft to chew. The shredded chicken here has always been a bit chewy which unfortunately doesn't let me enjoy my meal as much as I would love to. For drinks my bf ordered the pulque de fresa and I had agua de hochata. Once I received my water I kind of knew I'd be disappointed in it because it looked really watery. My bf mentioned that it was probably the pre-made horchata mix and once I tried it I knew he was right. It wasn't too bad but I was just expecting to receive a horchata that was made fresh. My bf liked his drink but unfortunately was also very disappointed in it because it was mostly foam more than the actual drink. Our service was not very great the entire time we were there for dinner. Once we ordered our drinks we waited a while until they were actually brought to us and they had actually forgotten about mine until I reminded them that I was missing my drink. While we were eating our dinner no one came to our table to ask us if everything was ok or if we needed anything. After awhile of waiting we finally had the busser come to our table and we asked for boxes but he never returned with them. The waitress minutes later showed up and we asked her for the boxes and she brought them promptly. After waiting another little while we then had to wait for the waitress to be by our table to ask for the check. After receiving our check again we had to wait more than 10 minutes until we decided to just stand up for someone to help us get us our change because the waitress never went back to our table. Overall we were very disappointed in our service today which will only give me more reason as to not want to go back in a very long time again.

August 2022 update: Since writing my initial review, I've been there quite a few times and ordered takeout as well, and I ended up coming back and removing a star because while the food is always good, there are a lot of service issues at this place. Most recently I went in by myself on a Friday night, the place was only half full and the hostess sat me but then no one greeted or served me or even so much as brought me a water for about 10 minutes. A server walked by my table a number of times, other servers were at the drink station nearby, and the hostess herself was in a little nook they've created with booths and just on her phone. I finally told her I was leaving and she looked up from her phone to say she would get my server but it was too late! I've had other service issues over the years here as well. It doesn't mean I'll never go back but it does mean I wanted to update the review to be honest! Original review: Fantastic - unique - better food than most taquerias and more unique than your typical Mexican restaurant. Is it authentic? IDK I'm a white girl from Iowa. But it's really flavorful and I see dishes on the menu I've never seen at other Mexican places in the area. Like Choriqueso, which is a hot platter of chorizo, pork, nopales and cheese. Yum Yum. And Tamarind margaritas! The prices are reasonable as well. There's also a whole side to the menu which has these elaborate seafood platters, which I haven't tried. Maybe on my birthday!!

The first time I went was when it first opened and it was not good at all. I left my comment. After years I decided to go yesterday and it turns out that you cannot expect that while you are eating with your family, the lady who served us comes and tells you, “Are you done?” so that you can take away her plate. We were all in shock, not knowing what to say. My daughter had the whole plate with her potatoes since she only ate 1/2 of the cake but she hadn’t finished yet, while my husband ordered a 7 seas and well, she told him the same thing, “Can I take away the plate now?” My husband, not knowing what to say, took a few seconds and ended up telling her yes. When the lady left, we said, “Why is the lady doing that?” “Can’t she see that my daughter was eating her potatoes and that my husband ate his food?” We will definitely never go back. The tacos (flautas) apparently they left the chicken uncovered in the refrigerator since the meat was so hard in the middle that when you bit into it, half the chicken came out of the taco. There is no good menu for children. I couldn’t order anything that my 4-year-old would like. I don’t understand why they think a healthy meal for a child is nuggets with French fries:( My husband asked for more soda and they never brought him any. Not counting that the sun was hitting us hard in the face and they didn't lower the shade

I don't really like Mexican food in general. It has to be good quality food in order for me to eat it. This place is great, the quality and presentation of the food is wonderful. Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to so that's why I can eat certain foods here. Also the place looks clean and has very tasteful interior design. Makes you feel like you are at a higher end place. They have a cute mini-bar in the back as well. The only thing is... when you first come in the entrance it is a little awkward, I myself experienced this and while sitting down watching others come in seen this: people are generally confused as to what to do and where to go when they come in. The girl servants are not great. They do not rush out to greet anyone so there is an awkward few moments where you stand around feeling foolish while everyone in the place stares at you until the waitress tells you what to do.

By the time the waitresses bring your water (which you have to request), takes your order ect it's just painful. The females need a course in customer service because it is HORRIBLE.

All encounters with them are really really bad. When I call in to order, they interrupt me and start talking to other people. (Without asking to put me on hold). They do not ask questions and are not informative at all. When asking to replace my dirty spoon, she smirks, takes and brings back a clean one without a word! No apologies, nothing! So weird!! They never stop by and ask how the food is or if we need anything. Their attitudes are totally bland and they look tired and annoyed.

The only highlight is when the busboy and actual chef guys come out and say hello. It's really nice, I guess they just know how horrible the girls are so they make up for their loss. This review may sound sexist but I don't care this is just the way it is. The men workers here are all really really nice and professional, they really need to upgrade their female workers. They are pretty, so the men customers might not notice or care as much. You don't really know what bad service is until you come meet the girls here.

Overall they can add a "Please seat yourself" sign at the entrance and up the customer service skills in...

We had never been here before, but we have heard great things about the food, and it did NOT disappoint! I highly recommend the Monterey torta. The michelada was fantastic, although it could have been spicier (we did ask for spicy).

The service was, well, just eh. The server seated us, never smiled, took our orders, and brought our food when it was ready. I asked for ice water to start and ordered the Monterey combo (includes a drink and fries or salad), and I asked for a soda and salad. I received fries instead. He ordered a Monterey only, but it came out with fries and no drink, and we were charged the extra for the combo. The server never came to ask how things were, if we needed anything (like ketchup or ranch for the fries we didn't order) or refilled drinks. We had to go and ask for some sauce for the tortas and then again later had to go and ask for the check. Our server was sweeping, not checking on us or the other tables they were serving. When paying, the server said that she had forgotten to charge us for the michelada, but that was the first thing on the bill. When we showed her that she did, in fact, charge us, that's when we got a smile. I'm sure she's nice, but it did seem as if she wanted to be anyplace, but there serving. We did tip, but feel as though she didn't earn the amount we left.

I typically don't mention so-so service, but this was below that. I had been in the food service industry for many years and understand that things happen or people have a bad day, so I really hope that the next time we go, things are better. There was another server there, and she seemed delightful. The reason for the 5 star is the food,...
