Benjarong Tampa — Restaurant in Citrus Park

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Benjarong Thai on Dale Mabry, a place that has become a beloved spot for me and my family over the years. Though I have visited multiple times under different management, I can confidently say the new management has upheld the restaurant's legacy of flavorful dishes and great service.

From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for a casual dinner with my daughter and grandchildren. It’s evident that they prioritize customer service, as our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.

Now, let’s talk about the food! The Thai basil dish remains one of my favorites—its fragrant herbs and fresh ingredients blend beautifully for a vibrant flavor profile. The Amazing Eggplant is truly a standout; it's prepared to perfection with just the right amount of spice and a delightful sauce that pairs wonderfully with rice. The curries are superb as well, rich and aromatic, with a variety of options to cater to all preferences.

It's not just about the food at Benjarong Thai; it's about creating cherished memories with loved ones over delicious meals. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for anyone looking for authentic Thai cuisine in Tampa. Went on a Saturday evening and place was empty. Picked based on reviews as we were on the area . Saw a board which says management is new. But since it’s our first visit cannot comment on how it is compared to previous management and service.

Parking is not a problem as it’s in a shopping complex. Easy to find location.

Service - Even though the place is almost empty staff didn’t notice us standing in front area waiting for seatings till sometime. We ordered drinks but later was told cranberry juice was not available and they were mistaken when accepted the order. He was willing to take another drink order but I decided to go with order to end the waiting. At the beginning we were bored waiting for the servers to place our orders as they were busy at the back and cash register. But after ordering they were attentive and friendly.

Food - delicious. We ordered double delight chicken, massaman curry and basil fried rice with shrimp. Menu is not huge yet the spread is great. There are options for all categories. Variety of proteins are available for all food options. The 3 items we ordered were amazingly tasty. I would prefer medium spicy level meant a little bit more spicy. We all agreed on spicy level as medium was sweet and didn’t taste any spicy. 9/10 for food

My wife and I decided to have dinner at Banjarong, a Thai restaurant in our neighborhood which we had never visited before. Parking at the retsaurant is ample.

First, our server Tammi was wonderful - she was very responsive but never intrusive. We hope to have Tammi as our server when next we visit. The restaurant is not a very large restaurant. Its atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable with mellow music streaming in.

My wife started with Tom Yum Shrimp soup which (based on my tasting of it) had nice flavor and and a well-balalanced level of spice.

We shared two Entrees - Siam Tofu and Two Amazing Friends.

Siam Tofu is light fried tofu with chili sauce and mixed vegetables. It tasted great. The Tofu had a light crisp to its outside with a soft inside. The vegetables and sauce were excellent.

The Two Amazing Friends consist of Shrimp and Chicken saute4ed with curry paste, coconut milk, ground peanut on cabbage, carrot, broccoli and baby corn. The proteins were cooked just right and the vegetables and sauce met our expectations.

We are having lunch at Banjarong with friends this week and will return again and again . Be advised that Benjarong has very good take-out service as well.
