London Fish And Chips — Restaurant in Hayward

Somehow my review got deleted, so here again... Overall enjoyed the experience. Due to COVID, restaurant still currently take-out only. Guy taking our order was barely friendly, even seemed inconvenienced that we were there...heaven forbid me tell him I'd been told to go here for awhile now and finally made it...that it's my first time so help me choose the best sampling. He wasn't interested in any of that into and just looked at me (-1 ⭐), so I referred to the menu (pic added) taped on their window and ordered what I added the pic of..."1 Pc Fish & 4 Jumbo Shrimps w/ Chips." Value of food was pretty right on, but the entire bottom of the box was all french fries...def enough to share with someone else as there's no way I should/could finish them all. A lil salty to me, but the crisp and crunch of the steak fries was difficult to stop eating. The shrimp and fish were cooked perfectly...crisp, fresh crunch with seemingly the perfect amount of better, yet oil didn't drip out each bite or be all over my hands. The guy said 15 min and that was accurate -- everything came out piping hot! 🍟♨️ The sauces that came with it seemed house-made: cocktail, tartar, & make vinegar. Enjoyable to add to what I was eating. Overall value/would I come back again? Probably not unless I was already driving by for something else. But we also don't eat a ton of fried food. It would have to be a "splurge," so...

First let me say that I don't go out and eat fish n' chip very often. This was the first time coming to this place. I know that in general, these places are generally on the more expensive side, but after getting food from here, I'm more okay with it. I picked up food from here and when they handed me the bag, it was surprisingly heavy, so it felt like I was getting a lot to eat, which I was happy with, of course. We ordered the 5 piece fish, calamari, mushrooms, and fries. At home when opening up the food, I was surprised at how large the pieces of fish were. They were at least 10 to 12 inches long. The batter was crispy and good sized pieces of fish. I ate just one fish and I could have been done. The calamari had a lot of batter on it, but they gave good amount of pieces. The mushrooms were good and had pretty standard flavor and texture. The other surprise was the fries. We ordered a small size of fries and we pretty much got a whole plate full of fries. I ordered online (door dash?) and got 2 pieces fish/chips and added on Zucchini for another 3.98. Total charge was $20.46. Seemed pricey for that food but…. Picked I my order and went to charge my car without checking it. I got no chips! On the order page there was a help # for orders. Seems to go to the owner/managers personal cell phone. She was more concerned about receiving my call than correcting my issue. She argued with me about that and then wanted to find out which platform I used to order.

I went back afterward and counter staff continued to point it that I WAS WRONG, rather than just offering a side of fries or whatever. I worked in retail management and would have never let a customer leave under those circumstances.

The food was very greasy and the service was awful and their issues with ordering platforms are NOT my problem.
