Context: In Japan, there are mainly two types of sushi restaurants: restaurants serving good, inexpensive sushi & restaurants serving excellent, expensive sushi.
I find that in America, perhaps because sushi is more of a niche food item, what one typically finds is mediocre sushi being served at expensive prices; though some excellent sushi restaurants do exist in major cities (with very expensive price tags)...
The review: Rawr sushi is a gem of a restaurant because it falls into the near mythical category of an American sushi restaurant with -good, inexpensive sushi-. For the novelty of that alone, I'm giving Rawr five stars.
With that said, if you've eaten a lot of sushi in many places, this probably won't go down as "the best sushi I've ever eaten," but it will almost certainly be one of the best values in sushi you're going to find. The sushi is tasty, fresh, inexpensive, and not mass produced.
Alternatively, if eating raw fish isn't your bag, Rawr offers other options like Ramen and hibachi... Though I can't vouch for those items since I come mainly for the sushi. They do serve up a decent takoyaki however. Though, it's pretty hard to mess up something as tasty as takoyaki. Give Rawr a...

This is one of my go-to places for sushi and ramen. My boyfriend and I have been here several times and since then we enjoy sharing our experience with our other friends and family. Everyone loves it. The business owners are very welcoming once you walk into the door. We are pretty much considered regulars there haha.
The food is delicious and affordable, portions are about the same as any other high end establishment. RAWR Sushi is a casual, quick-eats place with very little seating so I do not recommend bringing a big group. Also, it's important to note that they do not require reservations. Just come by and you will see what I mean haha. They now offer delivery and I believe they also cater? But I suggest calling ahead to confirm.
I grew up in Springfield and I love sushi. Having a place like this so close to home is such a blessing. I love to support local businesses in my hood. Great food that's easy on the wallet with great service is...
Read moreAbsolutely rude management. I literally got clapped on as i was walking away after voicing my concern. They make such a big deal over tipping. I'm not against tipping - I prefer to wait until my delivery has gone well AND THEN I'll tip. Before even the food was ready or on the way - I was called four (4) times & left messages - you'd think it's something there was something particularly wrong with what I ordered to warrant four calls.
NEVER AGAIN - they do not value customers. You'd think during this covid-19 pandemic they'd be a little more attentive to their behavior. Not these guys. Never seen anything like it.
As I walked away (and refused to take the food) they clapped and said "WE DON'T CARE". Shocking fact and absolutely flummoxed by their abysmal behavior.
The manager is SO RACIST based on his response to my initial review. WOW! WOW! It’s so unbelievable it’s...
