My girlfriend flew in from San Diego and we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott on the 18th & 19th. We made our reservations over the phone with the hotel. It was a little difficult to understand the representative because of her thick accent, but we got a room with double beds, free wifi (which worked great for both of us), free complimentary breakfast, and free parking. We got in pretty late around midnight, and the older gentleman that checked us in was very robotic and a little standoffish. My friend felt as if he was cold towards us because we are young guests, compared to the older couple before us that he was very friendly to, but I told her not to be bothered. The hotel lobby was beautiful. Everything looked beautifully remodeled. The hotel has lots of amenities, though we did not use them. Our room looked great! Clean white bedding, beautiful paint choices, and overall comfortable and relaxing. There were minor maintenance issues with our room though: the paint near the window was bubbling (probably from previous water getting in near the windows....we do property management for a living....so things like this stand out to us), the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work at all, and the tub drained really slowly, but the shower had great water pressure and the room was overall very clean. Breakfast was great the first morning...subpar the second morning. The attendant was very unfriendly about making sure we signed our receipt for our free breakfast and when my friend let her know that certain items had ran out, she was snooty towards her. Our drivers for the free shuttle to/from the metro were all very friendly! We had three different drivers and all were pleasant. Other than the older man that checked us in and the attractive but snobby host at breakfast, the rest of the staff was very friendly and we had a...
Read moreThis was honestly the most disgraceful place I have stayed at. As a start, the hotel rooms were decent. All were very nicely cleaned every morning after I left, and I do have to mention that, as the cleaning service was amazing. However, everything else was terrible. My room only had one towel of each type per person, and I needed a new towel, as I had used mine for my hair and body, and it was now dirty. I called the main lobby, and I asked them for a towel. They refused to give me another towel, and told me that it’s only one towel per person per night. Later, I had only gotten one keycard, and my roommate needed one for himself. I went down to the front desk, and the woman refused to give me another keycard. So now, we were forced to use only one card for our room. It was hard, as one of us was always separated. On one of our nights, we had decided to go to the pool. There were school trips going on, and when we entered, there was about 25-30 kids in a very small pool. Some were running, jumping in the 3ft side, so on. The lifeguard, a man of color, was not even paying attention to them, and did not once look at the people in the pool. As for the Starbucks, there is one worker named Elena who had made my coffee last night. I asked for a chocolate mocha, and she made it. It was when I got to my room that I realized the coffee was completely wrong, and had way too much milk. It was almost the color of a coffee with a lot of French vanilla creamer in it. It was supposed to be dark brown. The woman also charged me 7.43 for the coffee, when the sign said 4.75. The one worker, however, Alex, was the best worker ever. He was friendly, kind, and made the coffee very tasteful. Out of my whole experience at this hotel, that single worker is my only enjoyable experience. I would not recommend...
Read moreWe (family of four) stayed in this hotel this past Thursday through Sunday. We found the room to be noisy from heavy traffic right outside the hotel. We found that there was NO room service at all, the entire time that we stayed. We had to request towels once (which were delivered with incorrect type/amount due to apparent language barrier (we are native English speakers, the staff were not). Another night, upon returning to our room at around 1030pm, discovered no one had come to empty trash or bring new towels, etc. No answer at the front desk after several call attempts so I went downstairs to find two employees at the front desk. One counting a till and the other talking to someone. I requested towels and was provided with them. The room also could benefit from some sort of table or shelving in the shower portion of the bathroom. Once in there, there is no place to put clean clothes or any sundries except the (small) top of the toilet tank or the floor. Not preferred locations. The sink area is also very small around the sink itself so don't plan on leaving your toothbrush, razor, etc. there if you are with multiple other people. The "bistro" advertised for meals is sort of like a Starbucks/bar; very expensive, limited selections of things like yogurt parfait (half a serving in a plastic cup, etc), small (pre-prepared) breakfast sandwich, etc. One morning, the bistro was closed because the scheduled employee failed to show up. This left some of our extended party with no readily available food (we gave them a ride to the restaurant we were heading to) as they were using the metro/uber for transport. While the staff I encountered were friendly enough, the hotel felt wildly overpriced and understaffed for a Marriott brand. We expected better and would not stay...
