I have stayed in many hotels, some of which, I wasn't thrilled with, but never enough to write a bad review. In fact, I don't typically take time to leave any negative reviews. I booked this for the Wyndham name because I have stayed at other Wnydham properties and been pleased with my stay. When we walked in, I did notice a sign that said it was owned by another company but had some kind of affiliation with Wyndham. That wasn't a huge deal to me but it's just something I noticed. Upon entering the room, I used the restroom and immediately noticed it smelled like feces! My daughter then went in and was grossed out and said it stunk! We wondered how the bathroom could smell since no one should have used it in a long time, as checkout is at noon and we didn't check in until after 7pm. Any lingering odor from the past guest should definitely have left by then! We were exhausted and pushed that problem aside but then came the other problems. I always check hotels for bed bugs and thankfully I didn't spot any here, however, when I moved the beds, there were no wheel locks or anything so it was easy to just pull out the entire bed and move it away from the wall. It was so dirty back there! There was a Nerf bullet and some kind of bottle cap, both with dust on them so I know they had been there for quite some time. The dust and debris were clearly visible all around those items too. There was also visible dust on the popcorn ceiling. The AC also didn't seem to work properly. My daughter and I are both always cold but we were hot in the room even though the unit was set on high fan and temp of 66. The only positive thing I can say about our room was the bed was comfortable. The next morning we went out to the complimentary breakfast. The guy at the front desk just looked at us, no greeting or smile or anything. I don't really care about that but I'm just used to hotel staff being friendly. After we ate and went back to our room the sh*t smell was so strong. I don't know much about plumbing but something has to be wrong. The toilet did run through several cycles when it was flushed so maybe it has something to do with that but either way, it...
Read moreI booked this hotel- 2 rooms, 4 nights-through hotels.com 3 months in advance of my stay. Received the usual reservation confirmation emails from both hotels.com and the hotel itself. Didn't think twice about it since I have never had any issues with hotels.com in ten years.
Received 2 texts from the hotel the day before my stay confirming it, as well as phone call directly from the hotel the morning of my stay from a very nice customer service person asking me if id like to upgrade my rooms to king. We decided on not upgrading, since I requested connecting rooms and they are only available in double queen. I advised the representative that I would be arriving around 6-7 PM that evening and she said, "great, see you later!"
After driving five hours to Springfield from New York with my child, I arrived at the hotel at 7PM only to be told that my reservation had been canceled. The man at the front desk spoke in single syllables, said there was nothing he could do and no manager that I could speak to. He also said he could not look and see who had called me from the hotel that morning because they don't keep records of customer service interactions or calls regarding reservations. Perhaps most appallingly, he did not offer to see if they had any rooms available for me to stay in!!!!!
The only thing he could manage to accomplish during the exchange was to confirm that the phone number that called me to discuss my longstanding reservation that morning was, in fact, the hotel's phone number.
This hotel left me stranded 5 hours from home alone with my child and didn't even attempt to pretend to care. I was on the phone with hotels.com for an hour in my car in this hotel's parking lot with my hungry and upset child to try to rectify this. And still- this hotel refused to help the hotels.com agent or offer any apology or recompense whatsoever.
The only hotel I could find at the last minute was an hour away. I didn't check in until 10PM. What an absolute nightmare. Be careful booking here. Confirm your reservation multiple times and take down names of who you spoke to and when. And try to check in during management hours in case something...
