Update February 2023: Ate in. The atmosphere is pleasant, a few too many TVs, if you're looking for a quiet place to eat. But not turned up so loud that it is annoyingly distracting, you can definitely tell it's for a college town.
Waitress was very friendly, but staff is not as attentive as they should be. Never checked for refill, we had to go find them for to go box/ticket, etc..
If you've read any of my reviews, you know my wife has allergies (Pork, beef, shellfish, and corn). So it makes it difficult for her to enjoy many of the dips, mostly due to corn chips. So with a pleasant surprise, they have flour tortilla chips.
Flower tortilla chips: Very good alternative to corn chips, crisp.
Salsa: Excellent salsa, very flavorful. I tend to like mine a little bit more thick, but above par flavor for most Mexican restaurants.
Guacamole: Sad, more of an avocado paste. Was lacking garlic and lime. Avocado is good by itself, so it was eatable. However, was far from good guacamole.
Fajita: Had chicken only Hawaiian fajita. I'm not big on pineapple, but the way it was cooked in with the flavors was very good. It was not thrown in as an after thought. All the flavors blended well. One of the best fajitas I've had in many years. Full of flavor.
Rice: Bland and served lukewarm. For what should be the staple of almost any Mexican restaurant, it was a sad disappointing side.
Refried Beans: Fairly much the same as the rice.... Bland and lacking.
Pico de gallo: Like the guacamole, disappointing.
Sopapillas: Decent, not great not bad. More standard than anything. Worth eating, but not worth going out of your way to get.
Over all, as a lover of Mexican cuisine and food, I'd stop by again to eat, but not go out of my way to go. Mostly for the fajita, salsa, and flower tortilla chips. Hopefully they'll fix the other things, because from the flavor that is there, they have the potential to be it excellent.
Original mid~2022: It was good, but not great. I kind of expected a more flavor, authentic Mexican usually has more flavor. This was a little on the bland side. Then again, it's in Conway Arkansas. College town... A lot of the times you have to tone down flavors for the youngsters who haven't developed their taste buds yet. However, the tortillas were very good, and the portions were very fair. Good for the area, but still not anything to write home about. I will try them again, when I'm in the area, but won't be going out of the way to go back.
My restaurant interpretation of the 5🌟 rating system (feel free to use): 1🌟 = DUMP…. NEVER AGAIN I DON'T CARE IF IT IS FREE (wish there was a no star option). The food you would feed a prisoner, only if you didn’t like them. 2🌟 = Crap, fast food...... Only for If you are in a hurry, tight on $, and/or in a rush. (Think big chain places with $1 menu, not HORRIABLE, and sometimes a decent food comes out). 3🌟 = Okay, worth going on a regular, but has room to improve (Think frequent work lunch spot, Rarely less than Okay, usually Good to really good food) 4🌟 = Very good, favorite "common" places. Nothing EXCEPTIONAL. (Think casual date, Nicer Chain restaurants usually, occasional surprisingly good Fast food) 5🌟 = Reserved for EXTREMELY high quality and/or Exceptional, and Places that surprise me. (Think first date to impress, anniversary, special occasion) GREAT flavor, great food, ambiance, service, etc...
I started using this because I don't like seeing standard restaurants with 5🌟. If I see 5🌟 I expect more...
Read moreHEALTH DEPT should check this place out... I specifically asked for NO cheese or Sour Cream on my plate for a Enchiladas Verda. The plate came with Cheese on the pile of lettuce over top of the Enchiladas... I motioned the girl to come back and fix it, I said " I asked for no cheese, no sour cream", she said "ok" went to the kitchen and returned quickly with my plate of food. I could tell all she did was SCRAP OFF THE CHEESE and added a little more lettuce.. I asked if she " just scrapped the cheese off" and with a blank look and accent she said "yes". I told her that she contaminated my plate with the cheese in the first place, that it would make me sick if there were any cheese that fell between the Enchiladas. And that I would need a whole new plate. Also, reminded here "I did ask for NO CHEESE, NO SOUR CREAM!!" As i watched her go back to the kitchen, I thought they are not capable of understanding what they did was against the Food Laws in Arkansas. But so against the Idea of a place I would ever want to go and eat again... I am Lactose Intolerant and I am very kind and polite when it comes to ordering, I make sure they understand that I don't want it on my plate or near it... But, what did she use to scrap off the cheese? Her hands? A spatula? Mater is that she did it and thought I would not notice... Come on people.. So I walked over to her, told her "Cancel my order I don't want it anymore" and left. This is one more place in Conway that will not get my business... Just the thought of her scraping of my plate, really upsets me... why would you think thats ok?? I could have pushed it to the side of my plate if it was not that big of deal.. But, it is.. and I don't want to pay for something I'm going to get sick from Later.... The standards have to be better!! Or a lot of places will be making...
Read moreThe food was good and they got it out very fast but the service was horrible. As soon as we walked in the door the boy ignored us I understand he could have been doing something but he could’ve at least said,”Hi, I’ll be right with you.” Like a respectful human being. Our server only checked on us once the whole time we were there, my boyfriend’s cup sat empty almost the whole time and when we were about to leave that’s when she asked did he need his cup refilled and he said not to worry about it at that point. When we got up to pay and leave the girl was talking to her coworkers having a full conversation which we couldn’t understand because it was in a different language but she only stopped her conversation to tell him to sign the receipt and then none of them told us bye have a good day or anything like that. And here’s the thing I think we were the only customers there, the place was empty they weren’t busy at all whatsoever, matter of fact the whole time we were eating there was a whole group of workers just sitting at a table on their phones, and I get it they’re young maybe in high school or early college but this was just straight up rude. And I’m not some old Karen like I usually let these things go, I’m 19 I understand not wanting to be at work but you still have to do your job. This was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Do better. Check on your customers, greet them and tell them bye when they...
