TenJi Hibachi Express — Restaurant in Conway

THEIR LUNCH SPECIAL IS NOT THAT SPECIAL

I really like this place, is clean, the service is nice and the food is well prepared and tasty. However, I have an issue with their “lunch special”, for $7.95 you would think you would get a full hibachi entree just like you do when you order after 3 pm and you feel exited and motivated to come here and use that special but think again. I was told that the lunch special portions are smaller with less meat, less veggies, less rice and less happiness cries inside so in reality you are paying less money for the hibachi because you are getting less food for the hibachi and there is nothing special about that, there is no deal or a consumer incentive here. You are paying for what you get and there is nothing wrong with that, but I don’t think it should be called a “special” because the customer may think that a deal actually is happening when it’s not. Placed my order in the restaurant and was given a pick up time for 20 minutes. Received a text saying my order was ready so I approached the counter and was asked what I needed. I explained I got a text saying my order was ready and was here to pick it up. She said that was an estimated time so I sat down and waited an additional 13 minutes to get 2 sushi rolls and a side salad. Almost $19 and 35 minutes wasted on what appears to be sample sized food. Side salad had the dressing cup in the small container and took up 1/4 the space. I brought it to her attention and nothing was done. Spicy krab roll said it was made with spicy Mayo which has always been drizzled on top everywhere else I have been, but there only was plain white rice. We dined in but wished we hadn’t. The place was HOT (8/4/2025). I venture to guess it was close to 85 degrees inside. When we asked the girl that took our order if it’s always this hot inside the place. She answered “yes, but I think the AC may be broken”. She was not rude but not friendly either when taking our order and addressing our concerns.

Food was just ok. Protein was overcooked. Rice and noodles were bland. She forgot to offer us our soup or salad upon ordering. I was surprised that they only give you one 2oz. cup of yum yum sauce per order and extra was .50 per. IMO, If your food is going to be that tasteless, you should offer yum yum by the gallon.

We’ve eaten here several times before and had no reason to complain. But now the place is showing all the signs of a restaurant going belly...
