Atomospere and lighting needs updating. Wouldn't take a first date here, or a second date...
The menu has thoughtful and interesting dishes and shows the chef/owner gives a damn about quality and taste.
Waitress was overall attentive, and service was quick.
Appetizer and salad came out fast.
Caesar salad - very light runny dressing, burned croutons did not eat very much
Appetizer - Buffalo chicken bites, oddly shaped for sharing. "Buffalo" sauce was creamy which was strange but not bad either.
Entrees -
Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese did not have as much flavor as I would have expected, and not very creamy. I feel like it's missing something to bring the cheese sauce and pasta together rather than just sitting "on top".
Pretzel bun chicken sandwhich - homemade pickle is nice addition. Presentation was very nice. The sandwhich is BIG. Unfortunately, the flavor was bland, and definitely underseasoned.
Overall nice selection of sides. They were all tasty. I tried the shaved Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes with gravy, and stewed tomatoes.
I would come back to try breakfast. But chef and kitchen staff may want to improve the seasoning of the food. Pricing was good and I feel fine spending the 35 dollars my...
Read moreStopped at Tom's kitchen this evening for supper. Some friends told us it was a good place to eat. Well if I could give it 0 stars I would. I ordered the special, double lobed stuff chicken breast. I seen other platters come put before mine and was pleased with what I ordered. When mine came out it was half of what was on other diners platters. If the total weight if the chicken and stuffing was 3 oz. I would be exaggerating. Said they ran out of mashed potatoes, how do you run out of mashed potatoes? I orderd the baked potatoe, It was cold. I ordered applesauce and I had to ask if I was getting it with my meal. Waitress said it was ready she just forgot it. I add they were not very busy. My wife order the chicken parm. With salid. Came with spaghetti. The salid came out and was brown, wilted and soggie. She could not eat it. Should have been thrown in the trash. I was worried that if she ate it she would have been sick. The chicken was ok but the spaghetti was dried out to the point that some of it was hard. We will never step foot in the restarunt ever in fear...
Read moreAfter days of living on gas station snacks while driving from the West Coast toward the East Coast, Tom’s Kitchen was the pit stop I didn’t know I needed. This little diner is the definition of home-style comfort.
The menu was stacked with choices, including an entire all-day breakfast section that looked tempting on its own. In the end, I went for the Philly cheesesteak with seasoned fries, and it hit the spot right away. Simple, hearty, and packed with flavor, it gave me the recharge I needed to finish the last leg of my trip.
There’s nothing fancy about Tom’s Kitchen, but that’s exactly its charm. It’s pure Americana: straight-up, no-frills food done right. The service was friendly and efficient, which only added to the comfort of the stop.
If you’re driving through Pennsylvania and want more than just another forgettable roadside bite, I highly recommend pulling over here. Tom’s Kitchen delivers exactly what a traveler hopes for—good food, good people, and the kind of meal that makes the road ahead feel a...
