Casa Palomino Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Coolidge

My wife and I were going through Coolidge and I asked if she wanted to get dinner.

She grew up in Coolidge and said let’s go to Casa Palomino Mexican restaurant. She said the food there used to be amazing.

As we entered I noticed the glass doors and the windows on the front of the restaurant appeared as if they hadn’t been cleaned in sometime.

As we entered the restaurant to the left of us was a big banner celebrating 30 years in business. That was in 2024 but we’re living in 2025, so that’s been hanging there for a year.

We sat down immediately at the far booth against the wall. When I sat down I put my hands on the top of the table and it was sticky. Our table looked like it hadn’t been updated in 31 years.

The server came over and introduced himself and brought chips and salsa and menus.

The chips tasted either slightly stale or store both. The were thick and not thin and crisp as I’m accustomed too. The salsa did have great taste. Nicely prepared, a little thick and not very hot. Both my wife and I enjoyed the salsa.

My wife ordered a taco and a cheese enchilada with a few onions, and I ordered the Carne Asada, medium rare. The food came out fairly quickly. As soon as they set my wife’s plate in front of her she began to pick onions off. There was a LOT of onions on her enchilada.

When he set my Carne Asada down I went from excitement to hopping it was going to be decent. The Carne Asada I was served was covered in a sauce or oil and it was thick and had a LOT of fat on it.

As soon as I took my first bite my wife could tell that I was not pleased with it. I’ve eaten and cooked Carne Asada at least 100 times in my life. Never have I seen Carne Asada that is 1/4 inch thick or thicker. It’s suppose to be thin. A little fat is ok. But I couldn’t even eat half of it because ot the sauce and flavor.

This restaurant might have had great food a long time ago, but today it was a total disaster!!!

So too start off, I really hate writing bad reviews, I try not too as much as possible. But this place has just been terrible lately. When I pre-order my food I always do so 15-20 minutes in advance which should give them ample time to get my order ready. But, if I'm unlucky enough to get even 1 car in front of me, and no matter how much time I give them, I always have to wait at least 15 minutes, and that's just the minimum-sometimes I'll have to wait there 20-30 minutes. And you can't get out of line if there is a car behind you due to the curb on your right that runs along the whole drive-thru, so basically you just get stuck. Which normally I don't really mind, it's frustrating but the food is normally worth it. But today I didn't even get to the window, I sat behind 2 cars for almost an hour before I gave up and was able to back out when the car behind me got the same idea. Now I'm not saying this place is bad but, if you don't mind waiting forever for your food, I don't recommend it. The customer service is usually pretty decent and the food is really good, but the wait time for the drive-thru...

We we're waiting for waiter and when she did come I explained what we needed. She never brought silverware for us to eat our food and I asked for lemon 3 times.!!!!! Yet she asisted other customers and took orders. Than I finally asked again and her excuse was they are washing the silverware that they didn't have any available? Really common sense could've offered plastic so our food wouldn't of got cold!!! By than our baby of 1 year old was fussy and I was irritated with this experience!!!😡 Than at another table another lady complained and they were offered to take something off of thier ticket but as soon as they left the waiter said to other customers sitting next to the table in a rude was well she probably couldn't afford to pay for her food so she wanted a discount. OMG what's wrong with people these days. I understand waiter's try thier best? But don't act like dumb when something is pointed out like it was the customers fault. DO YOUR...
