Time & Place — Restaurant in Coon Rapids

First time at Time & Place Tropical Wine Bar tonight. We had such a great time. Our server was wonderful and guided us through the menu and assisted with us with choosing some fantastic options. They were so accommodating to a food allergy and went right to the chef to make the accomodations I needed. From the apps, cream cheese wontons and Jamaican Beef Patty which if you have never tried it's a must! To our main entrees smoked salmon salad so light and refreshing on a hot day, Jamaican Banh Mi and the Montego Bay Pasta (this is a curry pasta and I found that the curry was not overpowering at all definitely will be getting this again.🤩) and to top it all off and a fantastic end to our meal the homemade rum cake and chocolate cake. From the service to the beautiful plating and the delicious food you will not be disappointed. I gave it 4 stars because it was a little warm in the restaurant for my liking but please don't let that scare you away from trying all this amazing food. Can't wait to go back! Finally tried Time & Place and lemme tell ya - this is the real deal. Food was truly amazing - jerk chicken was juicy, complex, spicy. Red Stripe Beer rice was so comforting and delicious. Portion is very large - easily two meals (can’t wait for lunch tomorrow).

My partner ordered the jerk chicken bahn mi and it was so good.

Also - honorable mention for the guava spritz!

Planning to be regulars bc there are many things I want to try - especially the oxtail and snapper!

Service was great as well. Server offered extra jerk sauce without me asking, which I ate every drop of.

Atmosphere is basic - but you can tell a lot of love has gone into getting the space off the ground. Clean and cozy! I’m sure as their business grows they’ll continue to make it their own.

I don’t even know where to begin. I was brought out a pasta dish that was not what I ordered and was told that it was what I ordered even though I showed them the menu. They looked at what I ordered and could see that it was not what I was brought, and they continued to argue about it. To make matters worse, what was there wasn’t good at all. Coconut shrimp is nothing more than out of a box. My husband‘s pad Thai was some of the worst we’ve ever tasted, was supposed to come with lemon and had lime instead. Honestly, it felt like they were just taking whatever they had and putting it in the dishes and that was what you were going to get. No reduction on our bill whatsoever. We personally will never eat there again nor would we ever recommend...
