When I think of Bahamas Fish Market I think of my childhood. My family used to dine at the one on SW 8th street quite frequently. If we weren't at Luis Galindo's Latin America, we were likely here. :D I remember eating plates full of fried anchovies (Look for "Mahua" by the pound on the menu), Pan con Minuta and Dolphin Fingers. The fries and tostones (fried plantains) have always been really good too. Nice and crispy. Walking in to this location for the first time last week really felt like home. I was overwhelmed with a sense of nostalgia. Although this is 1+a completely different location, it's almost identical to the other one. I almost felt like I had entered a time warp -in a good -everything was just as I remembewayred it. From the oceanlife art on the windows and interior walls, the paper menu placemats, the menu above the fish display case and the basket full of crackers. It was such a welcoming feeli ng. But even better than that was that it did NOT smell of fish (like some seafood places do) he moment you walk in. Such a plus! I'd really like to give the full 5 stars because this place is near and dear to my heart and although it was clean and the service was surprisingly GREAT, I just can't for these reasons: My Dolphin fingers were not the quality I like to eat (they were either a little gray inside from being fatty, or they were dry and overcooked) Also, the tartar sauce was too heavy on the cheap mayo and not enough relish and seasonings. The whole fried Snapper was tasty but not as good as it is at La Camaronera (probably because they score it at LC). I'll be back soon I'm sure and if this meal was just a fluke, I will update my review.

The food was horrible. I have been a customer of this restaurant for over 13 years and for the last years or so the food quality just keeps getting worse and worse. I spent $95 in my last order and it was like throwing money down the drain. The bahama rice (used to be one of their best dishes) was really bad, the octopus was simply missing, and many ingredients were simply not fresh. The dorado fingers were dried, I placed an order of fritura de malanga (arround $2) and I received 1 fritura, I called the restaurant to ask if they can send me some hot sauce and I am not exaggerating, they sent me two little containers empty, at first I thought that maybe the sauce had spilled inside the bag but when I called the restaurant to ask the lady told me that they are instructed to put two (that's 2) drops of hot sauce per order. How stingy have they gotten I could not believe it. The sopon marinero one of their most expensive dishes again way smaller than it used to be and missing ingredients. The mashed potatoes, I don't have any words to explain how terrible it was, bad quality awful taste. The ensalada de camarones, it tasted like raw onions and bitter can green beans. Overall it was a bad experience, I do not recommend this restaurant any longer, it looks like they have a new management that is really stingy and has drastically affected the quality of their food. If you are dreaming of one of their good dishes that they have had in the manu for many years, forget it, it simply doesn't taste or look the same way anymore. I am not writing this review to hurt the place but hoping that the management will read it and correct all the bad things. It is a shame that a restaurant that many people in our community used to love and visit has gone down a path of bad food, poor quality and lack of honesty because they continue charging the same or higher prices for less food with less ingredients and less quality.

Ahhh, I almost forgot, I have been sick with stomachache and diarrhea for 3 days since I ate their food.

NOT WHAT IT...
