If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I usually enjoy Carvel but the service that was rendered to me here lives I. My head rent free as it was nothing short of horrendous!
Back on 3/3/24 I visited the Carvel location at 5621 Coral Ridge Dr. with with both my daughter and niece (both 6yr old girls) whom I was rewarding for academic success. Upon entry we were not greeted or acknowledged, which was rather obvious as we were the only patrons at the counter. As girls can be extremely undecided at this age they didn’t know if they wanted cotton candy ice cream or vanilla. After several attempts to get the employee attention for service he finally came over in a very confrontational manner. At an attempt to break the ice, I jokey said that the girls have a very critical decision to make between cotton candy and vanilla flavored ice cream and asked if the girls can have a sample to assist in determining. My request seemed to have set the employee off. He became very irate and stated “Carvel doesn’t offer samples” the look on the girls faces immediately changed while they began to tug on my arm and asked if they could go to a different creamery. In my attempt to try and teach them life skills I thought let’s solve this problem by choosing an option they know and love and go with vanilla. The employee began to violently open the ice cream display and sloppily scoop their icecream, moved strait to the register and gave me the total. I explained to the employee that I would also need an additional separates serving because the children would not be sharing 1 ice cream between the two of them, he violently opened and slammed the ice cream display and scooper and gave me my new total. I then asked him if she could give us an option of toppings to choose from he stated “they cost money they are not free” (which was rather insulting) I politely thanked him for informing me and reassured him the additional cost wouldn’t be an issue. He threw sprinkle all over the ice cream haphazardly. At this point I asked the employee his name and point of contact for management. He reluctantly informed me his name was Alex.
When I asked Alex again for the store managers name or general manager’s name, Alex states that he is both the store manager and general manager! When I asked for the store number/ store ID he told me to look on the front door (In which the store number was not listed the store number is different from the store address.) When I asked for the corporate info or franchise owners info he told me to Google it!
This appalling experience at the Carvel ice cream establishment infront of two impressionable young ladies has ensured I will never return. From the moment I walked in, I was met with rude and dismissive staff who seemed more interested in anything else than in assisting customers. The store was poorly maintained, with sticky counters and unclean surfaces When I finally received my order, the ice cream was half-melted and the portion size was significantly smaller than advertised. To make matters worse, when I politely raised these concerns, I was met with an unprofessional and hostile response from the manager. Such a lack of basic customer service and cleanliness is unacceptable, and I will be taking my business to a different ice cream brand ...
Read moreI am honestly asking for your opinions. I had the family out to the Carvel on Coral Ridge Dr. It is for special occasions because I am a family of 6 and to get out of Carvels for less than $25 is impossible. We got there at 8:30, there was a long line, but our guy was patient and kind, so I tipped him $3 in cash.
Fast forward 25 minutes, it is 9pm, it has started raining and the place is empty. My 5 year old wanted ONE CHERRY. I sent her up to the counter to practice asking for things herself. I heard her say “Please may I have a cherry, please.” I was very proud to hear her actually use the words we have been training her to use; so she must have REALLY wanted that ONE CHERRY.
I then hear her ask again, and then again. My wife gives me a look, so I walked over to the counter. I then ask him for ONE CHERRY please?
This is where I need your honest opinion. He told me he would not give me ONE CHERRY. He explained that he would not charge me for ONE CHERRY, but he would sell me an entire topping portion of CHERRIES. I do not know how many that would be and I do not know what that would cost. I said, no thank you. May I please have just ONE CHERRY?
As I am talking to this guy I’m looking around at the other workers and they are giving me the “this guy is crazy but I can’t say anything because I’m afraid I’ll lose my job” look. So this guy must a manager there! He wears dark rimmed glasses and a black hat & shirt.
Has anyone else had a similar experience at this Carvel? Does anyone know the owner? In my opinion, this kid made a horrible business decision. I was so shocked he told me no, that I immediately swept my family out of the store most likely never to return. THIS Coral Springs CARVEL will forever be the ONE CHERRY RIP OFF. I’m dumbfounded at the poor decision of this manager. What is the true cost of...
Read moreYesterday I had a rather strange and humiliating experience at this place. We usually go there because the product and service is excellent. Until yesterday. After having a good pie of pizza at Pascuale’s, my wife and daughter left and I decided to walk and have a small swirl of chocolate and vanilla. To my surprise, and after being served the cone, and eating part of it, I realized I had left my wallet in my truck. I apologized and as I was turning back to go get the money ($3.50), the girl behind the cashier reached out to grab the cone ! As I said, are you serious now? She insisted and apologized saying it was “policy”. I quickly thought about the scandal, the cops, and how I was going to live a nightmare out of three bucks and fifty cents. So there I was, at my 59 years of age, humiliated by policy, by bad training, by bad management. I walked back to my truck ($150,000 Raptor for the truck biased ones), thinking that all I’ve made in my life has been built on trust. This country was built on trust, on crediting people by their word. I guess these are not this place principles. Well, my policy is not to go back to places that have no regard for...
