City Bakery — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

This place is cozy and has that homie home style feel kind of like my grandmother's house when she was living. Rosita reminds me of my grandma. And Rosita works hard in that place. I only give it some deduction because there is too much riff Raff that hangs around the outside of her bakery. they come in and try to sell you shampoo and deodorant and when you refuse to buy it this one girl woman gets all mad and starts telling Rosita that she won't buy it she won't buy it that was a real turn off. and another time there was three people on the side of the building looking around the corner when me and my nephew had approached sometime last year and we just said forget it we're not going to stop here. So that is a deterrent for me and then that's why I don't really frequent that place too often there needs to be more of a police presence there I think they've torn down a lot of abandoned houses in that area but there's just still an undertone of danger there. Usually OK! but as time went on and I went more often I noticed unsanitary conditions…rat poop on cookies … aside from that …the staff serves friends before people waiting in line … made me late for work a few times but when 3 men came in and sat down with out ordering in line…they were asked what they wanted by the person supposed to be taking our order in line …the person at counter disappeared to the back to prep their order served them and then came back to take my order after I had been standing in line way before they walked in the building … when I told the person that was wrong and I’m leaving and the reason all that was said was...

Make sure you park out front. You can feel all the history when you step in. Prices are crazy good. I could see how people would like this place for the nostalgic feeling, but since I don’t have that feeling with this place I didn’t like it. Food was very greasy and bland. The biscuits that everyone raves about were fine, but nothing better than any other biscuit I’ve had.
