I read the menu online and the "Chicago - style stuffed pizza with thick crust" was all I could think about. Having experienced this in Chicago at places like Gino's and Uno's, my expectations were high. Panjo's came through with flying colors.
We got the Maui Jo's Hawaiian and OMG they made it great. They started our visit off right with the friendliest staff who really pay attention to the customers. Even though this is counter service, the guy listened to our questions and fully engaged in answering them, not just providing lip service you might get at a chain store. He explained that it takes about 45 minutes to cook, because it has "pounds" more ingredients than the thin crust equivalents.
While waiting, we pondered this explanation, and came to an agreement that it probably does weigh "pounds more.". It did take about 45 minutes, and it was so stuffed and heavy it definitely weighs "pounds more." It was very reminiscent of stuffed Chicago Style pizza, and very delicious. Panjo's was recommended to me by a local, and now I too am a fan! If you're contemplating whether to get a Large or a Giant, the large is probably enough, but the Giant is only about $3 more so it seems like the...
Read moreThis place CAN have the either the best pizza around or just mediocre. Let me explain.
A friend of mine plays in a group that performs there on the last Saturday of the month in the late afternoon. He takes me with him. Every time I get a pizza on that day, to the pizza is wonderful. As good as it gets.
We then decided to have pizzas there more often. We have been there around 3 times since during weekday afternoons. The pizzas we have gotten on those times have been a big disappointment.
They are very skimpy. If you have ever gotten a thin pizza from Pizza Hut that was rediculously skimpy, then you know what I mean.
This saddens me because I am a native Corpus Christian, and I have always loved their product. Now, I can't recommend them because of their inconsistency.
The final nail in the proverbial coffin is the price. They are expensive. A 3 ingredient largest pizza will run you over 20 bucks, and they are thin. Pan pizzas start at 10 bucks for a tiny one with cheese only. Each ingredient costs extra, and the price varies depending on what the ingredient is.
I hated giving this review. I will see if I can talk to the owners or a manager with some authority and update you...
Read moreMy family and I went to Panjo's pizza this evening and were pleasantly suprised with the food. We have been wanting to go for years and final decided to go. We had the cheese garlic bread, a side salad, and 2 pizzas. We were very happy with the quality of the ingredients used. However, the blonde girl with the heavy eye makeup in the front taking orders was awful. She was no help when we went to order and needed assistance. She just looked at us as if we were bothering her. We then had to ask another guy for our drinks cause she didn't even bother getting them for us. Being as how this was our first time, we were unsure just how this establishment worked and she was less than willing to help. She didn't greet us, and when we were ordering she got into another staff members conversation and left me standing ordering to myself. She NEVER smiled and walked around the place like she was really upset to be there. When we asked her about our salad, and for extra plates she ignored us and walked away with the same pout she wore the whole time. SHE IS BAD FOR BUSINESS!! If I do go back I will definately...
